Friend of mine is working on getting his FFL. Besides the proper forms from the BATF, is there any special hoops he needs to jump through being in Washington state?

The State is just one part of it. If you have a FFL they will sell you the State License typically without any issues.

However––––

Will the FFL be located in the City? If so you may need a City License...
Call the County while your at it also. They might want some money for a License also...
Both of the above might flip out over zoning issues and require a zoning study. That ain't free either...
One or the other could tell you that the State and Federal License that you now have are not legally usable...

I always suggest start asking questions and chekcing the local issues first...

Also I hope he already has a place of business or planning on opening one.  ATF really frowns on kitchen table dealers now.

Don't forget the State Business License, Dept of Revenue wants their sales and Business & Occupation taxes.

Ask your wife, she should know the answer.

I'm going to have to disagree with that based on personal experience, but I do know that they will contact the city/county to make sure that all of those requirements are in order.

Well I would say that was a reasonable success.

Sorry about the X3

This^^^^^ I was all approved through BATF and the city blocked my FFL even though by the city code it was allowed where I am at.  If your city or county does not want you to have it they will find a way to not approve your business licence and that is all it takes to stop you in your tracks  And BATF will approve a FFL at a residence as long as you can leagly do business at that address.  I had even went to the city and told them what I wanted to do and was told it was fine and I met all the code requirments, that was untill the BATF inspector called the city to make sure everything was good to go the story changed.
