a co-worker asked me what would be a FAIR value to ask for his rifle that he no longer uses...I'm not really sure on the value of guns any more, so thought I'd throw it out to the hive....
all I know is: winchester model 94 he got it in the late 70's 30-30 Win. any ideas? J |

First thing I do is check out Gunbroker.
Then I check out their prices, and laugh at all the "0" bids. Then I figure about 10-20% less as a starting price, and allow for dickering from there. Much depends on overall condition, "pre 64" -v- "post 64" and other things....but ONLY to collectors. Joe Average looks more at just overall condition. (imho) |

I remember when decent 30-30's could be had for $150 and a handshake...fuck ![]() Got mine for $140. ![]() I bought mine for $347. Except it wasn't a Winchester. Or a lever gun. In fact is was not even a firearm, it was an outboard motor. And I paid $1,200 for it. |

Was a mail order catalog gun, but the records factory burnt down, so I'll never know exactly when it was made (sometime in the 50s, early 60s). ![]() March 2011, it becomes my brothers first gun. Crap, that means I gotta get him a small safe for his birthday this year. |
