I dunno, mebbe I've had a bit to drink....but Hurt Locker is the about the best Iraq movie I've seen. No pisspant adolescent whining about stoploss, no fucking feather merchant point-of-views. Straight foward, here it is. Granted some Hollyweird aspects, some "NO-Fuck-no, NOT how that happens, and some of the commo traffic is WAY-The-FUCK-OFF, I.E.- "Interrogative.." (This ain't the Corps and it aint Gen Kill fucktardo's!!) However, the aspects that it deals with are spot-the-fuck-on. Those EOD guys have pretty big balls, and in 04' I don't recall seeing too many of the treaded robots, mostly it's a guy in suit, with a leatherman. there's a scene where they encounter some contract types....very real, very much accurate from my POV , I've had nearly the same experiances encountering those guys. All the same. I get it, any Vet'd get it. Any Grunt or Combat Arms danger Monkey WILL find the last 10 minutes of the movie QFT. It's a fucking disease. I'd go a 8 for 10 on this motherfucker. Not a bad flick, but now I'm out of Vodka...nope! Just out of DryFly. Kinda like being out of vodka, only you step backwards in every following glass......fuggit. I figgure if I can anesthetise enough, the morgue scene won't cause me any undue aggrivation tonight.....we'll fucking see. 10-1 I edit the fuck out of this shit in the morning. |

I liked it.
Like Matt, I saw a lot of stuff that was a little technically inaccurate. They must have had a jar head as their advisor, or maybe one of those contractors. Either way, it was pretty bad ass. Lots of blowing shit up. I really liked the end. Hit the nail on the head for me. |

Over the Green Zone in 04' there was constant rotary wing and fast movers. I found that element to be very accurate. What was missing was the trash, and the constant gunfire not enough in many scenes. Your mileage varied. +1, Matt when and where were you near the green zone in 04? We may have bumped into each other. |

Sniper scene? ![]() Outside the wire after dark in half a uniform with a weapon? ![]() Suicide bombs, hell ANY explosives and 2 way radios? ![]() As much of it as made me taste the sand, there were so many things that made my brain go . And boy those EOD guys get around. Door kickin, sniping, patrolling, wow. And blood makes a Barrett "jam"? |

And boy those EOD guys get around. Door kickin, sniping, patrolling, wow. And blood makes a Barrett "jam"? This was more in line with what I was thinking. Never been to Iraq.....these things still made me question how this movie was being so well rated. Several shots and misses by yards...but he hits a guy in the head on the run. I was seriously questioning how it is the blood could jam a 50. Outside the wire.....If a certain color person ran through a certain other colors neighborhood at night with a gun....let alone in another country during a time of war....you'd think he'd get his ass handed to him....cloths lined or something. 1-10.......gets a 5 |

Quoted: Sniper scene? Hollyweird. If you didn't write scenes in like this, everyone (the general, mis-informed never-have-been-in-uniform public) would complain about the lack of action. No One, and I mean No One rolled around without at least 6 guys, two Vics and two MG's.Outside the wire after dark in half a uniform with a weapon? Again, Hollyweird. To begin with, Hajii isn't allowed to take his POV on post.Suicide bombs, hell ANY explosives and 2 way radios? Hajii didn't start using DTMF until later, simple radio (Motorola, ect) has always been "out", but EOD rolls with their own signal scrambling equipment, and their freq-hopping systems are "Safe"...As much of it as made me taste the sand, there were so many things that made my brain go . And boy those EOD guys get around. Door kickin, sniping, patrolling, wow. Yeah, again, Hollyweird action factor. I look at it as more of a time compression/compilation of the actions of several units over a year. And blood makes a Barrett "jam"? No, but the sand sticking to those bloody rounds will do it in a heartbeat. The Barrett is a primary EOD tool, so there's a baseline level of competancy with the weapon I can work with in understanding the scene. Yeah, I could sit here and pick it apart just as good as anyone else, but the fact of the matter is that this film had elements that are sorely lacking in other contemporary films and TV....remember Over There? Lions for Lambs? Stop Loss? ![]() |

Lots of redheaded/paler than Arab folks running around. The main failing was his ACU pants and running. A large number of Iraqi's just wanted to stay out of the way, but there is a guy with a cell phone trying to get paid in every crowd. |

This is the same guy who got a "cut on the dotted line" tattoo on the back of his neck after the Daniel Pearl incident, with matching barcodes above and below the line to help match up the parts. My point being, that if he could do it, so could somebody else. Whether it's smart or not, well, that's a whole different conversation. |

When I was there we went off base (into Musayib from the power plant) in a high top to get ice all the time, just a boot and myself. So it's not totally unreal that the guy in the movie could make it back at night, moving quick without getting hassled.
BUT our CO had the town locked down, he had told the Sheiks that we'd call B-52's on the town if ANY Americans were hurt. So, in turn they forbid anyone to let harm come to us. |

Awesome stories....I did hear about my cousin running around naked with a sock on his dick...funny thing is I think Ive since seen that in a movie. Must be common....man...I missed out.
what I mean is...I'm here raising my family and never got to see what i was made of. Controversial, I know. Have a cousin in 82nd and his brother, a Marine, who served in Iraq...I think my aunt aged several years since then.... Man Iove those guys. |

I am posting this naughty little troll response for my number count being the DEVIL!
I actually give the movie a big thumbs down. If you have "been there, done that." Then you know I dont need to explain my remarks, thats all I have to say on that. either way, I suppose the creator of this film is getting his money worth, due to all the "thumbs up" fomr you guys. for those that want to argue the fact, come on over, I will have water and a cigar waiting here for you on East Liberty.

I still think it's a good....... ......Movie....... No one said it's a documentary. PLUS they used real displaced Iraqi's and filmed ON the Iraqi border so location and casting is spot on. |
