O.K., so I'm not drinkin' and have been thinking for the past couple days....
in the event (god forbid) of any more critical injuries to LE officers, who wants to start a "blood-letting" organization for donating blood to those officers unfortunate enough to be severely wounded in the line of duty... I would glady bleed for LE! |

I think it's an awesome idea, 5jeffro7! I've been donating, when I can, since 9-11-01. I got my 2-gallon pin not long ago (Puget Sound Blood Center). Something to think about, though... There are a few things that can prevent you from being able to donate. For example, if you've had a tattoo in the 12 months prior to donating, they won't let you. If you're feverish, taking anything with aspirin in it, or certain other meds, you can't donate. Etc., etc. Not everyone can donate every time. I couldn't donate last time because both my blood pressure and my temperature were slightly too high. That was just before I came down with a cold, so that might have had something to do with it. Still a great idea! |

Anybody going to Bur's Sattidy......I have a connection who just happens to drive a bloodmobile. If there's enough interest, I'll ask. Day after Christmas is iffy, but that's not to say we couldn't have 'em line up in front of a friendly gun store. I'll make a couple calls tomorrow. Honest. I like the sound of an LEO oriented, gun toters' blood drive. Good cause, good image for 2A community. Win/win. |
10 gallon donors
I've done about 4 between here and TX. Had numerous times I've not been able to donate due to tattoo, travel, illness. Even had a lifetime ban that was later lifted. Something about an elevated liver enzyme that could be the result of a disease they told me I could be dieing from. The FDA later said no big deal after they developed some new test.

That's two of us now! When I was a kid I had to get a gamaglobulin shot once or twice a week in the thigh. |
