Looks like wireless adapters and Windows 7 are still having issues getting along.  I'm searching for the cheapest "Windows 7 Compatible" adpater i can find, since it's undergone testing.. hate to have you buy something and it not work.  I'll post what i can find.

Alright, I have found NOTHING worth a shit that's "Windows 7 Compatible" for less than $50.00.  However, all that means is they guarantee it to work.  This is what I found.

$64.95

$69.99

That's about it.  Wireless is terrible for your main internet connection.  If you can come up with ANY way to get them wired, it'd be cheaper, and more stable.  I can donate a 50-75ft ethernet cable if need be.  I'd have to dig it up.  Let me know.

Try installing the drivers in compatibility mode.  Right click on the .exe and "Troubleshoot compatibility".

You try and force the driver? (Device manager, browse to the install folder..blablabla) I've gotten stuff that was barely designed to work in XP to work on Win7.

OH, and one other area to check, right click on the install .exe and be sure click "unblock" on the general tab.

ETA: be sure to "run as administrator" as well.

I find it very hard to believe that something that will work in Vista, won't work in 7. Even harder to watch someone "dump" 7 for Vista.

Operator trouble!

First time I have heard of that anyone had problems with 7, I don't have it but was thinking it was a pretty smooth system.

Try this:

Nightmare.

Wireless N adapters never seem to work with Windows 7 x64. I have now, however gotten my F5D8051 to work so I thought I’d post a quick guide.

1. Download the drivers from here for the Ralink chipset

2. Install the package

3. Update the driver for your Belkin N1 adapter to the driver

4. Click ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers…’

5.  Untick ‘Show compatible hardware’

6. Select ‘Ralink Technology, Corp.’ (if there are two, pick the second)

7. Select ‘802.11n USB Wireless Card’.

8. Install the driver and watch your network stop dropping out!!!

Good luck! When in doubt; get the chipset manufacturers driver!

Chris

Or this:

http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/2037-belkin-n1-wireless-usb-adapter-f5d8051.html

Windows 7 provides a generic Wireless USB LAN driver.

Select "Locate and install a driver manually" from the "Update Driver" button from the Driver Properties in Device Manager

Windows 7 Product Support Information

Windows 7 users:

If you are using an older Belkin Networking product, you may not have support for Windows 7 with your current software.  Please visit your product specific support site to check for updated Windows 7-compatible software for your product.

Software updates will be posted as they become available.  Please check back if your product is not currently supported.

Some updates may still be in the process of going through Microsoft’s official certification program.  Although they have been thoroughly tested, they may present a warning message when the driver is being installed.  These drivers will install on 32 bit operating systems but not on 64 bit systems, which is the normal and expected behavior

Don't miss read that as "we're waiting on Microsoft".

Actually, I've had pretty good luck installing/using Vista drivers in Windows 7.

If you know the chipset (generic name, look on the network board), you can typically install the 7 driver manually.

If not, I try expanding the Vista driver files (or run Setup), then use the install manually from folder method, and point to the folder I expanded the driver files to.
