It can't be any worse than vista, right? My "free" upgrade should be in 6 - 8 weeks. Should be fun to see how it runs on my new MacBook Pro |

Quoted: That crap is sure a memory hog. basic $119 = WILL NOT RUN XP premium $199 = RUNS XP BULLSHIT! FUCK MICROSHIT! For those that have to have the latest, enjoy. ![]() Are you even sure what you are talking about? Windows 7 Home Premium ($119) will still have a "compatibility mode" which will do it's best to run legacy software built for XP. So far i've been impressed with what I've been able to run on 7 that I wasn't able to run on Vista. Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate ($199/$219) can run the "Windows XP Mode" Virtualization which will run legacy software in a Windows XP Shell inside of Windows 7. ..but what the hell do I know, I drink the koolaid. |

Maybe they should put you in charge of advertising. I copied that straight from the site, "compare". http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/compare/default.aspx The way you explained it, it does sound better. The big problem I have is my computer is to old to use any of this stuff. That's on me though and no one else. |

How is that giving it away?!?!?! Hardware I have... I need the SOFTWARE to be given away! |

Buy it, steal it, rent it, borrow it, whatever. Just get it. I've had 3 laptops running it for about 4 months now. Zero maintenance or glitches. No driver issues. Not even any reboots that I can recall. It even fixed the wifi glitch I was having at work with XP. 11/10 |

Quoted: PCR may want to borrow that. He hates his Ford. (can't blame him)I have XP so I am going to upgrade as well. I think I will get the service pack as well, just in case. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u46/maxdun/net%20junk%202/Service_Pack_3.jpg |

Alot of people (not me though, I categorically refuse to use betas) at the soda pop factory loaded the beta. Support for the beta ended yesterday and via winders update and under threat of having your port shut off, were being force updated starting on about Monday. Upgrade time seems vary somewhere between 10 hours and infinite. My boss, bless his kind soul (no, really) made the mistake of loading the 64 bit version on his laptop and as far as I know, is still working on it. Most applications, even Microsoft ones like Sql Server and TFS, die on upgrade (from the W7 beta, not Vista or XP) and require reinstallation. If you have the beta, absolutely positively back up any files you want to keep (but thats just sound advice anytime). |
Not that you'd want to, but you can upgrade to the Final version from the Beta. Linky Anyone who installs a beta risks losing everything, all the time. |

Times change. It doesn't have to be a negative experience. |
