I bought a 10/22 a couple of weeks ago from AZfats, and I made my second trip to the range with it today. He set it up for an Appleseed shoot with peep sights and a sling. This is the first time I've ever really shot the proper way with a GI sling, and I like it. Anyway, I'm plinking with the 22 and a few benches over is a dad and his kid, maybe 10 years old or so. They're taking turns with a scoped semi auto marlin. Dad's punching paper and the kid is ringing the gong out at about 200 yards. Pretty decent shooting. Later they're walking along behind me and Dad says to junior (pointing to my AR) "Now what does he have there." No hesitation, the kid looks over and says "An AR-15, M4 style, with a 16" barrel." Which happens to be exactly right. Apparently he's been bugging dad for an AR for a while now, and he's done his homework. I let him shoot a few rounds and he handled it real well. Almost lapsed in trigger discipline, but he caught himself, and he safed it when he was done. I was impressed.
