Isn't this at least the second BOLO my ass thread for you?
Why yes, yes it is. You need a much bigger BFL for your chute plug. |

Forms only blow when it's the last load on a saturday, after the batchman has gone home.
And as far as shorting you on mud I'll say the same to you as the last guy that called and complained. "Well no one else has run short, maybe you need some batteries for your calculator |

Perhaps when we're pouring SOG and the depth varies, but not when we are pouring square boxes. |

"Well no one else has run short, maybe you need some batteries for your calculator You sound like our arrogant Dispatchers/Managers. While it may be true that contractors are mostly FUBAR beyond all help, Customer Service is just that. Im sick of having to see the customers face to face our Managers shit all over on the phone day in & day out. Quoted:

I dont know how you guys do it, but you do. While I wouldnt trust my company any farther than I can throw them, I know my truck & job. I know when I have a yard, 2, 3, and I know when your ass is short because you didnt order enough. And please dont get mad at me when I pull up and ask you, "Did you order a cleanup already" because its that damn obvious you dont have enough mud. I say we put you two in a room together and leave you both in there. Then the office pukes cant blame us and neither can our customers. Im a Teamster, I have little to do with the wagon, I drive the mules. |

True stuff, all. While I'm no mathematician, I'm surprised on every job I work on how guys can't add simple numbers in their head. I mean seriously, any carpenter should be able to add 1-32 thirty seconds to 1-8 eighths and come up with a sum. Sum can and sum can't.
Having said that, when it's raining like a mofo and they are batching wet sand that weighs more than dry, and you deliver to my forms, my money is on the batch fag being off. I'm guessing batch guys aren't any smarter than carpenters and the conversion from weight to volume can be imperfect from time to time. Maybe a little by gosh and by gum thrown in along with some last load on Friday and a pinch of DILLIGAF thrown in for good measure, but you already knew all that. Now drivers, they're a whole different thread!

I was a mixer driver here for about 5 years first. I've only been the plant manager for about 3 months now. I really havn't had any real problems with any contractors yet (well other than the dude doing 8sk shotcrete in the blazing sun that wanted 2% calcium). Seems like the only one who complains about being shorted mud is the same one over and over.
Funny enough I'm still a teamster as well. It's a small operation here, we're down to four drivers out of my plant from a maximum of eight a couple years ago. |

Now drivers, they're a whole different thread! ![]() Couple things....You are assigning responsibility to batch bitch they dont have in our company, and have never had anywhere I ever worked. There are moistures and mix designs given to them, they simply follow computer programs and babysit the plant. More maintenance than anything, they damn sure have little control over what goes int he truck, and have a computer babysitter that tells everything they do. Manual will get them in trouble, autopilot all day long. We are lucky if ours can find the control panel. Drivers? Like anything else. You have great, average & downright shitty. We have all of the above, but a lot of really good ones. |
