Anyone know where I can get parts DOD/mil-spec magnesium phosphate coated here in Western Washington?

Specifically machined parts made from 304 stainless steel and 1018 cold-forged.

Is this the same stuff they use in valves for (heat dispersion) in propane burning engines?

Don't think so...you might be thinking on the lines of some kind of ceramic-coating?
I'm thinking more in the way of gun parts.
Typically steel gun parts are either parkerized or mag-phosphated.
More modern gun parts are mag-phosphated, as are many automotive small parts/components I believe...

I gotz a couple of different prototype goodies that need coating.

I was given three bottles of magnesium citrate today to drink on Sunday. I think its totally different stuff......

That's a plating process isn't it?

I'm thinking a chemical process that leaves a residue behind (black, hard). Plating is a multi step process.

I could be wrong.

I think you're right.  Totally off subject but that description jogged my memory.  The door stops for SH-60's are made from 300 series steel and require a similar (if not the same) anti-corrosion coating.

That's precisely what I am searching for...gotta go dig into the Thompson Guide and make some calls...

Ah, I was thinking of sodium filled valves.... coffee works better than whiskey sometimes

This can't end well.

304 stainless is just non food grade stainless  used in multi applications, ie. structural, marine, is very common, weldable, machinable etc.

1018 is just cold rolled mild steel, used in multi applications, is very common, weldable, machinable etc.

The WAHTF board being what it is...I'd expect nothing less.
