I have recently lost some brothers that were indeed true to their country with unwaivered hesitation, they were Navy SEALs. Their names only matter to those who have known them
and indeed cared for the people they became. These were soldiers that laughed, cried, and had a humble disposition like no other. Ego did not exist in their world, just a resolute behavior that
would make a full-grown Grizzly bear shit his hide when confronted. On this Memorial weekend, I just want to say let us all reflect on our lost brothers in war.

....and to my brothers I lost a couple of years ago in Afghanistan and Iraq, they were DAMN good in what they did and yet again, they were extremely humble. In their training before deployment, they came in crazy, determined, and felt like nobody could break them. During their training, they were broken, battered, and humbled with humility that made them in to a soldier that 'nobody could break'.
They were part of our elite: Special Forces. I don't provide the names because that would exude egocentricity that they would not want, but rather, they would want for us Americans to not forget the soldiers who have went beyond their physical, psychological, and emotional capacity to fulfill their objectives. I am proud to say that I loved them as brothers....and that goes for all those I have interfaced and trained with. I don't carry their pride, as for; I've never enlisted.

WE BREED 'EM TOUGH HERE IN AMERICA, THERE'S NO OTHER SOLDIER LIKE THE ONE'S WE BREED

Absolutely.  Good thread, MC.

I feel your loss.  We owe them a debt we can never repay.  It is most noble of them to have made that sacrifice for US, and may we never forget them.

May we never forget the thousands and thousands over the last 230+ years who have made that ultimate sacrifice, so that we can remain free.  God bless all of them.

May we never forget.

I have a bunch of friends and associates on the Wall in DC.

I think about them, especially on this weekend.

I was reading an article on Memorial Day and this line stuck with me

"Let no neglect, no ravages of time, testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic."
—General Orders No. 11, Grand Army of the Republic Headquarters

In
Flanders Fields the poppies blow

Between
the crosses row on row,

That
mark our place; and in the sky

The
larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce
heard amid the guns below.

We
are the Dead. Short days ago

We
lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved
and were loved, and now we lie

In
Flanders fields.

Take
up our quarrel with the foe:

To
you from failing hands we throw

The
torch; be yours to hold it high.

If
ye break faith with us who die

We
shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In
Flanders fields.

McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
