Wal-Mart = the devil to many here. One of the biggest reasons I hear is because they support the chinese. Please let me know what is the name of the store that you guys shop at that only carries US made products.
Thanks |

I'm not opposed to THE Wal-Mart. Like most, if I can get the exact same product (i.e. DVDs, Ammo, etc..) for less, why wouldn't I?
I typically don't because of the freak factor at our local WallyLand. It's also busy as shit, unless you go at 1am (which makes the freak factor even higher), and I don't like the thought of coming out to my Jeep on cinder blocks because I wanted to save a buck or two. |
| I hate shopping at Wally's because of the type of fellow shoppers. Some of the folks at the Tulalip one make me want to blade at a 45 degree angle and perform a recon by fire on the cookie isle. I don't give a shit where the stuff is made, as long as the prices falls within my budget, I'm good. |

Seems that would be related to the area you live in....... move to a better neighborhood
(I'm kidding) |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Fred Meyer? ![]() This Sir James... Wrong. Boomer is right. The same shit that Fred Meyer carries, Wal-Mart carries. A rubbermaid tote is a Rubbermaid tote, crest toothpaste is crest toothpaste, etc.... no matter where you buy it from. Yea, I know...hence the ...I have to cross the border to Lakewood to go to Wal Mart, and the dynamic changes drastically there...

I don't know of any local store that only has US made stuff, but I check the labels and try to find stuff made in America first, and have left a store if they don't have what I'm looking for made somewhere other than China. If I can't find it then I will buy something from China, but I actively try to find American first. |

I DONT SHOP AT WALMART. The reasons are simple: 1.they pay a sub standard wage (to entice the enslaved population to shop there) and by shopping there, you support more of the same sub standard wage jobs (that your kids may have to work at one day) becuase they cannot find a job anywhere else becuase people sold their damn countrymen down the road to save a fucking dollar. (no other stores, becuase wally world took over the world).
and 2. Because they do not give a shit about the american people, ( they would sell us out in a damn second to increase their profits 2% ith their cheap shit). As far as finding domestic stuff, I will pay 3 times more, when I can find it. And I do shop at Fred Meyer, for the simple fact that, FM pays a living wage, and provides health care to their employees, instead of telling its employees to get on medicare (paid for by you and me) and sticking it to us...............now how much are you saving Wally World Fans? |

Always cracks me up when people post stupid shit like this LOL "1.they pay a sub standard wage (to entice the enslaved population to shop there) and by shopping there, you support more of the same sub standard wage jobs (that your kids may have to work at one day) becuase they cannot find a job anywhere else becuase people sold their damn countrymen down the road to save a fucking dollar. I am sure not.....my wife worked at Wally World too.....she was happy with her wages and her benefits......was not substandard at all.........was the same she made at most of the retail places she has worked. What do you think should be the going wage for a worker walking in the door with no experience? They pay for experience...........and then they reward workers who learn and move up and take on more responsobility.............. Wanna see some sub standard wages? Go look for a job right now.....go check out work source and she some grand old hometown employers who have dropped thier wages BIG time. Know what DNR is paying first year wildland firefighters this year? Like 10.55 an hour! I remeber when that starting wage for the same job was alot more then that! |

Are you trying to tell me a cashier or stock clerk should be making $50K / year? Are you one of those who believe the minimum wage should be >$15 / hour? If so, I'd love to see you show us the numbers that would make that a viable option without making a gallon of milk cost $10 or a loaf of Wonder white bread cost $8.95. I'll be patiently waiting over here. |

I'll be patiently waiting over here. I worked for Wal*Mart too at one point, GardenCenter at 18, Tirelube shop at19 and then LossPrevention/AssetProtection from 20 -23. They Pay the appropriate wages for an INEXPERIANCED, non educated person who has no desire to move up and only wants to pay their basic bills while still living with mommy and daddy. Medical was not all that great, but it was there, I remember that I paid for it. Infact I still have all my old pay stubs, my second to last paystub dated for 3/31/06, my medical and dental for one paycheck was $39.50 My wage in 2006 was 11.20, as Lossprevention. At the time it was lower than what other placed were paying, but I looked at it as a step to get into something better. Some people go there and plan to work their for the next 30 years until retirement. Others retire and go there to have something to do. Maybe these number matter to you, Maybe they Don't. I remember seeing what others around me in the district made, and I was near the low end based on time. Granted What I remember from when I worked there last was this: You got a yearly raise, 40 or 50 cents depending on your EVAL. you could get merit raises, but I do remember the only people who got those were ass kissers and major suckups. None of them ever worked for their raises. I do remember them changing the maerit raise system around because of the SAME people getting them like clockwork every three months. There were no COLA raises, with the exception of mileage. However the only people who ever saw those were LP and managment. Looking at the numbers I made then, VS three years later are a joke. The wages could barely pay for an apartment. Alot of the people I worked with at the store level could barely afford to pay their rent/car insurance/food bills monthly, as a SINGLE person. I remembe specific examples, Lots of them. These wernt people going home in escelades and then playing games on their big screens. I hate the place becasue of the shitball manager I had and his shady and often lying personality. He was deceptive and most of the time VERY controlling, not to mention the illigal things he liked to do, in some cases, to his own employees. If Kooter still has the person as a manger that was in his distrct when I left, he had a very good manager. Cedric was a great guy to deal with, with as long as its been I wouldnt be supprised if alot of things have changed. |

When I got my W-2 for 1999 as an E-4 in the Navy with 4+ years in service and it said I earned $17,000 that year––including a tax-free deployment with all the bennies ($13,000 was taxable income), I made the decision to do the same kind of job on the outside for a lot more money. The world needs ditch diggers. |
