Has anyone taken the Utah/Oregon concealed pistol license classes, and if so were you able to obtain a CPL from both Utah and Oregon? I'm more interested in the Oregon CPL, as I travel in Oregon frequently.  My WA CPL is good when I head east to Idaho and Montana, but I wouldn't mind having a CPL valid in quite a few other states. I'd like to hear of any experiences with this class, good or bad.

I took the Oregon class.  It's a complete waste of time if you've been shooting for more than a week, but it provides some entertainment.  Some of the people ask questions that make you go  You can tell they've probably never even held a gun.  Anyhow, the classes usually range from $25-50 bucks.  It's a couple of hours of a guy telling you not to point the gun at anything that you don't want to kill, make sure the safety is on until you want to shoot, etc.  They also go over the different types of hand guns (revolver vs. pistol).  It wasn't too bad.  I took mine in Hillsboro, OR, which is in the Portland area.  If you want the info, let me know.

I took gun smart firearm training  covered both Utah and OR.  Also at the end of the class they have a fingerprinter and notary there, so you get everything you need but a picture for Utah.  It is also considerably cheaper then the other classes offered around Seattle.

I applied and got Utah and had my meeting with the Multnomah County Sheriffs office mid March.  Should hear something in a few weeks.

Ms. B from the Clakamas county sheriff's office told me just to place my handgun on the front seat so the officer could see it I have to go down and take a class also but she said if you have takin a class in WA and have some kind of documentation of it that will work.

oregon state law allows open carry of a loaded firearm in a car, but city of portland and several others do not without a CPL and you can be prosecuted by them

As a side point at the next Portland Gun Show there are some people from "the other forum" who are putting on CPL classes for $35 PM me if your interested in a link

I took a class at SAM'S was all day on a Saturday. It was Utah and Oregon Concealed Handgun Licenses class.  The course was put on by Roger Moore of GunSmart- Firearm Training in Oregon. Seemed like a very intelligent instructor.  The class was $95.00 plus $35.00 for finger printing, but that is notarized with picture. Then it is an extra $65.50 to get CPL from Utah. Don't know Oregon CPL cost.

There is a class being given on the east side of the state for both the Utah and Oregon CPL. I'm going to sign up for it. I talked with the nearest local Oregon sheriff's dept and they said take the class and it won't be a problem getting the CPL. The cost is $50 for the Utah class and $25 for the Oregon one, with a fingerprint charge of $10. Oregon looks fairly easy to do, I just wonder what hoops you have to jump thru for the Utah CPL.

Utah is really easy.  Just mail your app, a photo copy of your certificate, finger print card and a pasport photo.  Then in a few weeks they mail you a card in the mail.

I'm taking the Utah CCW Instructors course in May and will be offering classes through High Mountain Hunting Supply in Wenatchee, likely begining in June.

What sheriff's dept?  I had an OR CWL and the training requirement is very easy; I took a free class the sheriff offered.  I am sure you would qualify for the training requirements some how now if you wanted.  You can also carry in Oregon for many reasons without a CPL license.  I assume you want Utah for some other state.

Utah reciprocates with just about everyone.  if you have one of those, you can carry where ever you want.  A couple of states have open carry...with restrictions.  In Oregon, you can open carry anywhere except where prohibited by federal law, and within the city limits of Portland and Beaverton.
