Ok so I'm interested in getting an instructors permit (Rifle/Handgun)... a little backstory...
In the foreseeable future I see myself out of a job... Thus i was thinking, what am I good at now? well I'm good at shooting, climbing and general outdoors stuff... Well I already have my instructor CPR/First aid thing but for the most part it's redcross volunteer stuff and I don't get paid for it... However if I were to get a Instructors permit for shooting, well I could prolly get paid for that... However I can't seem to find a place in this State where I can get the training/qualifications for it. Insights only has a bunch of cool classes, but no actual instructors classes. I saw that the Kenmore Range is offering the classes (Richard Ripley is the one giving it) however my schedule doesn't work with the dates of those classes and they don't have any other dates posted. So my questions are Do any of you here give those classes? You guys think we can get a group together and maybe convince a range to give us a group discount? etc etc... |

There isn't a class that grants you a permit. However, there are a couple private training facilities that will let you work your way up through instructor level classes. The state run classes are typically limited to LE.

Ok so I'm interested in getting an instructors permit (Rifle/Handgun... Unless you're in the private sector, ie. Armed Security, Private Invetigator, and IIRC, Bail Agent (Bounty Hunter)... I considerd this route a while back, I have been previously licensed as an armed PI and Security Guard. The Instructor that qualified me is a former Fed LEO, and slid into the license pretty easy, but if you look in the RCW's under licenses, and look on the DOL site I think all the information is there to get accreddited. I'll take a look and see if I can locate some references........ ETA-Older Flyer, from Nov, but might give you a good lead Something to look at but the next link is far better. https://fortress.wa.gov/cjtc/www/private_security/index.html Here's something else to consider. I knew a guy in the Spokane area, who's sole reason for having a PI Agency Lic. was to adminster the PI's course and test to newbie PI's, and security guards. IIRC, it cost me $200 for the two day class. He basically gave the class three times a month, 5-10 students per class. Time colors perception, but IIRC, he pocketed $125 of the $200 per student. |

Check out they folks at Cascade in Ravensdale. I took Basic Pistol instructor and Range Safety Officer from them. they have a top notch program. When did you take the RSO class? I took that class just last weekend (2nd & 3rd). Waiting on the paperwork now. |
