As some of you may remember, back in early October I had a small utility trailer stolen from my apt. Many of you offer to keep an eye out and were helpful, while others gave the sarcastic responce I expected from this bunch. However, I wanted to let you know I now where the trialer is. Without going to much into rant mode right now, I may tomorrow depending on what I hear back from the police, I wanted to thank everyone here for being supportive and keeping an eye out.

That's awesome brother!  Still got the pic on my cell phone.  Very good.  Whatever the details are, hopefully you'll get it back tomorrow, in good shape.

That is very good news.

Thanks. We will see. It appears someone stole it to move, then left it near here.

Maybe they just "borrowed" it and were too lazy to bring it all the way back

Glad you got your trailer back.

I'd found out who ordered the tow and raise hell as to why you weren't notified.. especially if the trailer was reported as stolen.

Yeah, that is ridiculous.  Seen that happen with stolen cars........owner ends up paying ridiculous impound fees because "somebody" waits forever to notify.........seems kinda fucked up.

If the tow company failed to attempt notification as required, I would dispute at least a portion of the fees.  This is typically done in District Court.  Some RCW info.

 "Oh" that was harsh Matt.

Glad you can get your property back. But what if the inpound fees are more than the trailer is worth?

The impound lot sues/takes you to collections for the balance remaining after they sell the impounded item off.

FUCK!

Sorry to hear that man...I don't suppose they'll be investigating who stole the trailer and getting the cash from them, huh? Guess that'd require expensive detective work, and it's cheaper for them to fleece you under color of law.

that whole impound business is so corrupt and it's all legal. I've never been effected by it but it makes my blood boil when I hear about things like this.

Friends dad owned a car lot and had a 68 camaro stolen off of it. Shows up about a month later in Spokane. Had been sitting in their impound lot for 3 weeks so he owed 3 weeks impound on it and they wouldn't let him see the car until he paid the bill. He pays the bill only to walk into the yard to a hulk of a wreck. They stripped it down to nothing and rolled the hulk of some hill. He just told them to stuff it and keep it.

Well I picked up the trailer today. If I didnt get it today it would have gone to action and I would have still been stuck with the bill.

To my surprise the trailer is in the same condition it was before it was stolen. Well, minus the lock on the tongue and rear door. However the little things that were in there, two plastic lids and the the cargo cover for the exporers rear area, were left as well as the spare.

Now the fun begins, I have to go check with the courts to see what can be done about the rest of the money. I think I was screwed by the system, and I do not mean the impound.

Yeah, it does sound like you were screwed.  That sucks.

Yes, keep us posted.  Good to have the trailer back at least, as you said, better to have it, what with the inevitable bill situation and all.
