Stupid effing text editor
So a guy emailed us a few weeks ago wanting to buy a few things. Total price about $2500, which is quite a bit less than a typical order. Below is the email exchange. The sender purports to be Australian. –––––– Him: Hello, i am Mark, i will like to order for some goods from your store but before we an proceed i will like to ask the following questions. Do You Ship Australia? Do You Do Mail Order? Do You Accept Credit Card. I await your urgent response so we can proceed. –––––– (Of course, this was sent to us via our online store.  )
Us: Yes we do all of these. –––––– Him: Thank for your email,I would like to proceed with my order via email and i want you to know that i came across your store information via Google and here is what i will like to order for, X-shorts Size:L ..........Qty:5 Long Body Only ..........Qty:2 I will like you to get back to me with the total cost for my order. please i will also will like you to recalculate of my order alone and get back to me with the total cost of my order and don't worry about the shipping cost because i have my personal shipping agent in USA that will come for the pick up of the package in you stores and i have inform them about this and they told me the best way to come for the pick up in your store is for you to email me with your store address and the time the package will be ready for pick up with your convenience time and date, so please kindly get back to me with this details along with the total of my order so that i can give you my card details,and please kindly get back to me if this items is in stock because i do not want any delay on this. –––––– At this point, I sent him an invoice via Quickbooks with a link to pay using the credit card. –––––– Him: The total cost of my order is quite correct and OK by me and I'm ready to pay the bills . I shall inform my freight forwarder who will be coming to pick up the order to hold on and come immediately you inform me that the items are ready for pick up then i can give you a call on that day to get the items packed for pick up and they will call you on their arrival at your address.Also I want you to help me Charge additional $1150.21 from my card for the freight forwarder who will be coming to pick up my ordered items from you. The $1150.21 that will be sent to the freight forwarder is for the shipping of my order and other items i ordered from different part of the country which is to be picked up by him and should be deducted from my credit card.Also, I'm compensating you with the sum of $250.00 for the transfer fee and for your efforts. Please note that i should have given the shipping agency my credit card for him to deduct the freight charges but he told me that he doesn't have the facilities to charge or debit credit card , so that's why i bring my vote of confidence in you and i want you to assist me in this measure, so i want you to transfer the funds to him after you have make the charges and then you can now make the transfer to the agent via western union.i will have love to do this my self but there are no western union here around me cos i am out of town to monitor my estate construction at a remote village,So the charges you'll make on my credit card will be: Order Fee:$2,562.00 Agent fee with shipping fare:$1150.21 Transfer Fee: $250.00 Total: $3962.00 Note that my credit card will be charged for the amounts above.Please do get back to me if you are in the office right now so that i can forward my credit card details to you, then you can charge the funds Best Regards Mark –––––– Us: We can only take payment for items we sell. I look forward to read from you ASAP Regards Mark –––––– Us: The invoice has ben resent, please let me know the CC details so we can proceed. –––––– Him: thank you for the reply, i do believe you understand that my shipper is not a new shipper to me, we have been together for the past two years and he his the one taking care of all my order, so please i will be very happy and appreciate if you can help me wire the fee to my shipper via western union and i want you to know that i would have love to give my CC to my shipper to deduct the fee but he told me he did not have facility to credit or debit for now and also are would have love to wire the money myself but there is no western union around me here, please i will like you to do please help me on this, I await your email asap. ––––––- And then our final reply to him: Us: If you have been working with your shipper for a long time, I'm sure you have ways to pay him. I will not pay your shipper. |
| I just had a similar experience, via email, but the person wanted to pay through AlertPay. I checked them out and they are valid. But, he wants personal info to proceed. Once I told him to just pay to AP and all he needs is my email addy...poof! no more communication. Damn Nigerians anyway. |
