The wife and I are thinking of taking a trip to Seattle.  What are some of the must see, must do, must go places that make Seattle what it is?  List off some great sites, great restaraunts, pubs/bars/clubs, art galleries, wineries, etc...

The Seattle Art Museum and Frye Art Museum are both ok. Olympic Sculpture Park. The seemingly million small galleries are hit or miss with a lot of didn't even bother to show up for the game.

Restaraunts- depend on the food you want
Bars- depend on whether you want a drinking, music, seedy, or trendy bar.

Ride the duck. It sounds lame but the out of town people love it.
Ride a ferry.
Go up in the BOA tower, it's taller and cheaper than the space needle.
Science Fiction Museum
Museum of Flight

I'd advise budgeting time (days) to get out of the city rent a car and head to Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, the Olympics, Mt Baker something like that.

Dont forget the EMP and...   there is aq tour called the "seattle underground" its about the history of seattle and alot of fun. you get to go into the underground ruins of seattle and see buisnesses that used to be.

For Kids you also have the Pacific Science center, if any of those will be coming with you.

If you have a day to kill and the money to spend it is always impressive to get a float plane flight from Kenmore air from Lake Union up to somewhere in the San Juans, like Friday Harbor.  You can round trip it in a day or stay over night up there.

Woodland Park Zoo is pretty good too.

A City Pass is $44 and is good for 8 or 9 days, It will get you into:

Woodland Park Zoo
+
Seattle Aquarium
+
One hour Harbor Tour
+
Science Center
+
either EMP or Musem of Flight

If yo do 3 of those things, you save a buck or two. If you do 4 you save about 15 bucks. And you get to go in the "first-class" which will save time if it is busy.

You can buy it at the first place you go to

Ballard Locks is cool, differnt , free.

Renting a canoe at UW is cheap and fun.

Museum of Flight is, IIRC, free admission of THursday...double check that. The restoration center in Everett is cool if you are a mechanical/tinkerer type.  not very well known.

If you are into old motorcycles, check out John Birgen's bike museum in Spanaway.
If you enjoyed the "bar scene" from Star Wars, check out any local Walmart, I highly recommend the Spanaway store. First week of the month is best.
If ya like old cars and time it just right, you could check out the Lemay collection, also in Spanaway.
If you run low on meth, any gas station or stop&rob should be able to hook you up.....in Spanaway!
If you get busted, maybe it'll be by a saucy little blonde deppitty in.....................Spanaway.

Thanks for all the replies...well...I'm not sure what to think about Spanaway...but thanks all the same.

So as far as restaraunts and pubs/bars/clubs go...give me some highlights.  We enjoy a variety of foods and like new experiences and the culture of the locals...not just the touristy stuff.  Recommend some fun places...some places that are Seattle at its best...someplace that defines Seattle and what it is about.

So the question begs to be asked given this is a gun site...what about CCW?  Do these tourist attractions have metal detectors, etc?

edited for spelling and clarity...
