In the fall I will rebuilding my 1988 Toyota 4runner. I kinda cracked the block, so I'm going to tear it down and put it back together. A nice 22RE rebuild with maybe some extra stuff around the rig if I get more time/money. Should be fun fall/winter project. In the mean time I'm driving my Honda which is just not the same... I actually get decent gas mileage now, haha Also I might be helping a friend out on his CJ7 project rig that he's looking to buy later this week. He's usually an older Porche guy but I guess he got tired of the life on the pavement and is venturing for something more. |
get a test light..disconnect your battery ground cable....connect test light between battery neg post and neg cable.....if the light is on you have a parasitic draw....start pulling fuses one at a time till the light goes out...then you will have which circuit the draw is on. check your glove box light.......most common draw out there. |

everything I own (total of seven as of tonight) First, the cars that would be considered "projects" 66 nova 2dr post; got what I thought was a 305, turned out to be a 307, either way it's going in. Looking for a 4 or 5spd manual tranny for it. Will probably paint it flat black or flat dark grey with some flames. Some kind of dual exhaust so it sounds cool. 62 gmc; Patch up the rust holes, lower it, put some sort of flatbed on there, rattle can it, and put in any 6 or 8 cylinder engine that gets more than 7mpg. (those 305 V6's really suck it down) oh yeah, get the lights to work too. 89 firebird; Figure out that damn rattle I have (I think it's engine related), install a different ECM (working on piecing it together), get it tuned, put on a different hood (hopefully with some paint that matches somewhat close), and eventually get the whole car painted. Now the ones I just plain need to work on 96 chevy truck; install e-fan, underdrive pulley, find some paint that matches for touch ups, tune the ecm for better mileage, and get some new cab mount bushings. 00 neon; change the timing belt before it breaks and sell it as soon as the firebird is tuned (hopefully it will get about the same mileage as the neon) 81 honda; not much. It's pretty much sold. I might tinker with a few small things while the guy saves up the rest of the money to pay me. And for the newest edition to my collection.... 75 Dodge 100 4wd; get it to start. Hopefully my dad can use the disk brakes off it for his truck, but they don't look very compatible. We paid $400 for it. I might use it as an off-roader/hunting rig. It's got some cancer and dents, but the interior isn't too bad. It lost spark a few years ago. |
Ha! The firing order for the V6 is 123456. They must have figured it was the same. |
Ohh tell me about that I've been helping my brother out with his '73 standard Beetle.. we just did the transmission and a tune up. Some moron put the firing order at 1234 What is surprising is we probably put 100 miles on it running like that. It runs beautifully now. Should looked at it more closely earlier..Isn't the firing order for the Chevy's right on the intake, with the cylinder numbers also on the intake?

95 chevy tahoe, so far this week i have replaced the icm in the dist, plugs, i'm looking for the pcv elbows that go into the throttle since they are both cracked,,,not a commonl carried part if you can believe that,,,replaced the pcv valve, going to put a fuel filter in, she started hesitating and stumbeling half way up here from sacramento, and im trying top figure out whats not working right,,,,so far this is a huge pita,,, kid at auto zone said i should pull my heads and clean my combustion chambers,,,,,that sounds like a nightmare. |

My Suburban is doing the same thing, but only under heavy load... your rig should be the same engine as mine. What was frustrating to me is I wasn't getting any codes at all. I'm going to be replacing my ICM and the Pickup Coil today to see if that helps. The pickup was suggested to me to be the problem and my ICM is original and wasn't testing good(and they are both cheap parts, just labor to install). |

I wish my wife would get her 68 mustang out of the garage. I still have to drop out, and rebuild the Trans, new fuel tank, paint... you know the deal... It has been in her family since day 1 from the car lot. No real cancer, and parked since 1981. pretty clean. |
it started under heavy load while i was towing a uhaul with about 6000 lbs in it up I5 let me know if the coil helps |

Yea, not the motor or the fuses.... but I think there is a short somewhere between the two. I'm not electrically technically special if you know what I mean. I already purchased a new motor and it didn't work, so I returned the beast. I've also blown 20ish fuses trying different things. basically, I need a guy handy with a multi meter who wants to work out a trade for gun stuff. |
Make sure your comprehensive is up and put a paper clip in where the fuse goes! |

Where are you located? IM me. If your close to me I can assist with your quarters, I did complete rear quarters, trunk extensions and outer wheelhouse panels on my old 70' Roadrunner. Post up some pics of her. |
