Hey guys, I'm in need of some ammo for the LCR. I'd like to get at least 200 rounds of it. I'd ask this in the ammo forum, but they are big ol nazi's over there. The best price I've found on something that doesn't seem like total crap (though there is no review of it in the ammo forum) is the Prvi Partizan 55gr M193 from AIMSurplus. Is this ammo decent? I have a Noveske N4 that I will be shooting for the first time at LCR. It's my first AR and any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys, Jay |

I'm definately not above shooting Wolf. I am more worried about it damaging my weapon. Doesn't steel cased ammo cause damage to your barrel? Something about steel fragments or something yadda yadda blah? I'll prolly order this Prvi tonight, and grab some wolf to see if Dixie'll cycle it at LCR. |

Sorry to be a bugger, but "i've heard" it is better to break in rifles with brass ammo. Anyway, check out the EE/Ammo forum, Outdoor Marksman has a sale on Federal XM193, $350 per 1k, and $25 shipping to Bellevue from its west coast warehouse. I bought 2k and still got $25 shipping... niiiiiiiice. Anyway, Privi is the cheapest "good" ammo these days. New manufactured good Q3131(M193 specs) are crazy... if you can even find any. |
Nah.. Some gear heads will say steel on steel is bad, but I broke my bushy m4a3 in with nothing but cheap ass steel shit (ie wolf, silver bear, etc...) and it's flawless... Again, i'm not shooting in any sort of comp's or anything... I think the more important thing is to CLEAN your rifle!! |

When I used to own an AR-15, I shot 6-7 cases of Wolf through it at LCRs. I shot tannerite at 50-10- yards off hand that some guys with scoped target rifles could not from prone. The down side was that I had to break down and clean after every case (1000-1500 rounds) and shoot some WD-40 in the action every 4-500rds. You can go from brass to Wolf without cleaning the chamber, but not the other way around. I'm now shooting up whats left of my wolf in my FN-FS2000. |
What you should have been told or gathered from that conversation was that it's better to break rifles in/wear them in with ammunition that meets the required ammunition specs. Wolf is loaded on the light side and sometimes it just isn't enough to run a gun that is new and has clearances on the tight side. With a new rifle it is always advisable to bring known good magazines with some high quality ammo that's known to work well in most people's rifles. There's no drawback to starting with Wolf or whatever right off the bat, but keep some XM193/Q3131A handy in case something goes wrong the first time out. |

Wolf doesn't cause damage to be barrel. However, it can potentially cause premature wear on an extractor that was built, designed, and tested to work reliably on brass. The other problem (more of an annoyance) with Wolf is that it's dirtier than a $5 whore on the morning after payday. |
