I feel I may vote for Fred anyhow... MAYBE make a point that whoever *wins* the (R) vote needs to pick him as VP... Still haven't made up my mind.

No, actually it isn't.

Primaries are a creation of the political parties, their purpose being the selection of a candidate to run in the November election. They should be closed (and in my opinion we should do away with them an let the parties sort it out without depending on a bunch more of our taxpayer $$). The oath is there to try (ha!) and prevent people from voting in the opposing parties primary and skewing the results for a candidate they think they can more easily beat (cough, cough, McCain).
