I am thinking I will try and come for the whole weekend. Gonna deal with that at work tomorrow. I might as well. I have never done cold weather camping before. I have a cold weather sleeping bag good to 20 Degrees. What else should I plan for? My only concern is freezing at night…. What do you guys do? Discuss. |

One major item is some method of insulating yourself from the ground, this will keep you both warmer and more comfortable; I use this for hikes but for stationary camping something as cheap as an inflatable pool mattress should work. If you have a tent with a rain cover or wind cover putting that on will usually help keep it warmer inside. Have an additional blanket or two, the more layers the more warm air that is trapped. Another method is to have a few of those pocket or hand warmers and you can put those in the sleeping bad near your feet or in your pockets to help contribute a little bit of warmth(not much, but enough sometimes to make it slightly more comfortable). I hate doing it because its uncomfortable to me, but if its really cold ill wear pretty much the clothes i have on into the sleeping bag because they already have some trapped heat retained in them and it simply creates more layers for when you do stop moving around. Hope i was able to throw a couple useful things out there for ya. |

I would say get a 0 or - degree bag. I have a 30 or 35 degree bag and even the June shoot I was freezing my ass off. If you can't afford another bag, bring a few extra blankets. Fleece works really well, especially if it's doubled. Moving blankets are also pretty handy (and thick). I use them to sleep on for additional padding (but can pull them over if I'm still cold). Also, if your bag is down filled, strip down to a tee shirt and your under-roo's. Body heat is best in down, layers of clothing defeat the purpose of the bag. As for the day time, you can be like Broadway Joe and sport some panty hose under your pants. Adds a layer to help keep you warm. If you have a couple buck, pick up some cold weather gear from Under Armour. I think Joe's Sports carries them. I use it as a base layer when snowboarding and it effen rocks. Simple long john's work too. In other words, layer up! |

Get a tent heater, it will be a god send when you wake up in the middle of the night freezing your ass off. Take extra blankets to put over you and under you, and to have just in case your stuff gets wet. Being cold sucks, being cold and wet can completely ruin the whole weekend. |
Hell F-ing NO!!!
