Wow, what a day yesterday/today.  Left for work 1545, picked up my new lower from my FFL on the way. Worked all night, got home 0555. Pulled up the instructions on the 'u-build-it' forum, found a screwdriver, pliers, tape. Put together the lower, attached the upper....voila my first AR15 time finished:0735.  Man this isn't as hard as I was worried it was.

Lower:  Superior ($85 shipped from Kiser) + $25 FFL
Upper:  Lightweight flattop 16" CAR ($489 shipped from J&T Dist)
Sight:  A2 clone  ($24 shipped Ebay)  .....I know but I ran out of $$$ for now

Total: $623  all brand new.....

To top it all off, today is my birthday!!! Happy birthday to me

I have pics, but don't know how to put them on here... can someone e-mail me the easiest way... I am not very comp-literate

easiest way would be to get an account on photobucket, and then link them from there.  Congrats on your first AR!

Once he finds out how much ammo will cost, he may decide that new socks are out of the equation.

I think you did quite well. The only comments I will make, I think you could have done better on the price of the upper.

Thanks everyone...BRD is great!!!

The socks ARE NEW, that was only the third time I wore them, oh well what do you expect for $1.99/3pair???

Getnlwr: The $489 is for the whole kit... upper, bcg, stock, and lower parts set. Delton was a few $ cheaper ($8) but their shipping ate into that, and I really liked Nick at J&T he took a lot of time to answer my Questions....I had a bunch

I also got 300 rnds of the Ultramax from Midway while they had the "spend $150 get $20 off" christmas sale on. Also in the box came: power measure, calipers, dies.... But dang, I didn't realize I need the powder charger die too!!! Well I guess I need to make some 'empty' brass first anyway

This morning I gave it a cleaning to get rid of the manufacturing crud, did a mechanical function check, went out in the back-yard(13 acres) and made '1 empty brass'    Everything works !!!!!!
