On the way home from Pendleton, we stopped at a Darigold plant in Sunnyside, where we bought cheddar cheese curd and medium cheddar cheese. Then we got some sliced ham at Albertson's.

We have skipped dinner twice, opting for ham, cheese & crackers, instead.

Cheese curds are perfect for cheese & crackers, since they come in bite size pieces, already.

The Darigold plant also has a consession where you can get ice cream, milk shakes, sandwiches and just about anything in dairy related ceramics.

There is a self-tour which takes you up to a viewing platform, where you can observe the fully automated cheese production.

I learned that Whatcom County produces the most milk in the state.

I've been to the Tillimook factory in Oregon and wouldn't mind going back some day.  Might have to make the trip to the Darigold plant, too.

Either one would make a nice day trip on the motorcycle.

+1 for the Tillimook factory

Sounds like a similar setup to the Darigold factory, been there several times, its hard not to walk out with a years supply of cheese and crackers each time.

It's because we have a lot of dairy cows up here.

If you like good cheese, make sure to attend the Seattle Cheese Festival in May at Pike Place Market. They close down the road that runs through the market and hand out more free cheese samples than you can eat (and, I can eat a lot of cheese).

I love Tillamook icecream.. good place to go too..

I know they used to donate tons of it to the Boy Scouts at Camp Meriwether. Probably still do.
