On the way home from Pendleton, we stopped at a Darigold plant in Sunnyside, where we bought cheddar cheese curd and medium cheddar cheese. Then we got some sliced ham at Albertson's. We have skipped dinner twice, opting for ham, cheese & crackers, instead. Cheese curds are perfect for cheese & crackers, since they come in bite size pieces, already. The Darigold plant also has a consession where you can get ice cream, milk shakes, sandwiches and just about anything in dairy related ceramics. There is a self-tour which takes you up to a viewing platform, where you can observe the fully automated cheese production. I learned that Whatcom County produces the most milk in the state. |

If you like good cheese, make sure to attend the Seattle Cheese Festival in May at Pike Place Market. They close down the road that runs through the market and hand out more free cheese samples than you can eat (and, I can eat a lot of cheese). http://www.seattlecheesefestival.com/ |
