The rifle was factory installed.......I cant believe they let it out the door with such an obvious ....sorry....fuck up. I waited for a month and a half to get the rifle......thats the problem....Im sure they would fix it, they dont have a choice in my mind to do so, the question is do I want to go through the hassle? |
|
Will it effect the performance of the weapon? No Are you going to be the only one who notices? Probably. Is it up to you on wether you want the weapon for looks or performance? Yes. If you wish to return it, then do so, but are you willing to wait the required time to get a replacement? If youare then you are golden, if not , then I don't know what to tell you...... |
I'd ALMOST agree with you, BUT, I pay for something "new" I want it new. It's things like this that let vendors slide on their quality because people will say, "well... It works fine, why bother". Vendor sends you something in less than advertized quality, I want to be compensated. |
ditto In all honesty did you buy it to be safe queen or did you buy it to be the tool it was meant to be? I'd call them and tell them you want a new barrel nut. But I would use it as the tool it was meant to be. Ask PCR how I treat my $2200 FN-FS2000 But at least I use it and abuse it, unlike most people I know that buy a $2k guns.

Can I assume you bought it from RRA directly?? This is the benefit of supporting your local stocking dealer...You could finger F the rifle all day long before you decide to take it as it stands. I always told guys who wanted things perfect to either build it themselves or find one in stock they could scrutinize to the max. RRA is pretty good about fixing things but its gonna probably cost you shipping one way to get it done not to mention the time. If it is worth that then box it up... Good looking rifle BTW.... B- |
I agree with this. I'm not too concerned with it being perfect forever, but I want to be the one that puts on the character marks on it. To me it's almost like buying the pre ripped and faded jeans. |
|
I abslutely agree that a safe queen rifle reflects in many different ways on the owner......Im not in favor of having a perfect looking rifle and I do believe in using it if your going to buy it......I absalutely expect customer satisfaction and quality....it will look used.....and I will do it......I like the idea of having them send me a new barrel nut hand having someone local do it......or I will. If any one is interested in how this plays out when I call them Ill let you know........ |
| Though I'm not familiar with that particular handguard, it appears the damage is on the forearm and not the barrel nut. You might want to send them a picture so you won't be getting the wrong part. If it is the forearm then use a heavy duty strap wrench to install a new one. |
I'd like to know how they treat you. I like my toys and tools to look used, AFTER Iv'e used them. I don't buy pre faded jeans, nor do I buy pre-balding tires. So why should I buy a pre-beat up rifle? |
| It would be a shame if this was a one in a thousand rifle and shot sub MOA all day long with wolf ammo and it was sent back in for exchange. In my eyes these are working guns not works of art to be put in a glass case. I remember a gentleman on the FAL files was upset because of the mark left on his lower when he rotated the selector from safe to semi, easy fix never take it off safe. P.S. the Mrs. read the post and thinks the exact opposite send it back she says. |
| Yeah I'd be pissed about spending that kinda $ and having that arrive like so, but I would just contact them and complain, send me a new part and throw in something to compensate me for the problem, thats just good customer service as I see it. Don't waste time sending it back. |

If you look at the photo Ive got one rifle thats treated like a sow......the other one is its back up and is a pre washington state assault weapons ban investment....why? because Im an American and I can. I plan on scoping the new little darling and making it coo....I cant make it cool if it comes from the factory looking all fucked up. The rifle has been sent back......I received a call from Rock River Arms about two to three hours after I sent the email......the first thing he, BJ, said was "I talked with my supervisor and showed him your photos" and then it was somthing like "he's chewing ass right now for it having been sent out like that"....everythings paid for.....I kinda wish I had bargained some new flip up sites or somthing cool like a M203. Thank you to everyone who gave a damb....Mike |
