are these LE/MIL/.gov only?  Or can civilians own these... I was under the impression we couldn't but then someone that I assumed was informed said we could.

Can someone link me to the legal chatter?

Thanks....

I knew you would reply with the info.  Thanks.

Why is it a misdemeanor to dispose of these things?  Its not ok to have them, but you can't get rid of them if you do?  How does that work?

In order to dispose of it you have to possess it first.

If I had to I'd guess that was written in to eliminate the switchblade give away loophole or some such thing.

That's only if you hold it the right way when you snap it open. You can always play dumb to the cops and say you can't open it by whipping your wrist. If you don't hold it properly then it won't open.......plausible denyabillity!

If I recall correctly...conviction under this statute involves a penalty that will include LOSS OF YOUR CONCEALED PISTOL PERMIT if one has been issued to you. That is the best reason NOT TO mess with the autos.

Statewide, no.  But some cities do have blade type and/or length restrictions.  You'll have to look up the code/law for each city you are thinking about visiting.

Seattle, Tacoma, and Sea-Tac, have 3.5 inch limits.

That's good to know.  i thought my 5" SOG PEII was kosher statewide, but apparently not in all places.

Good excuse to get another blade, and I have to drive by SOG everyday anyway...
