We found a potential problem with some of the lowers we received. The safety detent pin hole on some of the lowers are out of spec forcing the safeties to sit off center. I had to inspect each one and decided to return 33 back to MEGA. So unfortunately, there won't be enough lowers to cover everybody who have already ordered. We will however, get more to replace the out of spec lowers. We should have enough lowers to cover most of the buyers in the group buy. If you received an out of spec lower, return it to us immediately for replacement. We will handle to remainder of the lower sales on a first come first served basis for those who have ALREADY PRE-ORDERED. Once again, you have NOT been charged. You will only be charged when you pick up your lower or when your lower is shipped. Thank you for your understanding. John Hwang |
Can you describe "out of spec" to those of us that have already picked ours up? Was it a particular run of serial numbers that were messed up? |

I'm no authority on ARs, or on much else for that matter, but what I saw today didn't bother me even a tad. ARs being coined as 'working guns', (possibly my own perception), it didn't alarm me any. Those of you who are particular about the particular, (like I can be about some fudd guns, easily) are wise to wait IMHO. |

If whatever this flaw is is only cosmetic I do not care. As long as the safety works properly I'm good with that. If mine didn't actually ship I'm also fine with just waiting. I'm in no hurry. I already have 1 or 3 other projects that should be completed first. 
I only ordered one. I'm guessing the dual notifications may have been something to do with setting up the shipment online or something and then the actual shipment getting re-assigned when picked up by USPS... or something like that.

My understanding from the original thread was that the serial number requests were a bit up in the air, and that you get whatever you get. |

Some of the shipments were sent before the problem was found and some were found out after so check to see if your safety sits fine. Out of 80 lowers, 47 are perfect about 30 are near perfect and a few were really off. I'm sending the nearly perfect and the really out of spec ones back. I am like ODT and I think the problem is so minor it's not even worth mentioning on the 30 near perfect ones but I know how some people are about their stuff. (I had one customer return 2 LMT uppers that was perfectly fine because of a cosmetic flaw) I think people are over reacting a bit. We still have enough lowers to cover most of the orders. If you are planning on coming down Saturday, you should as there has been several people who have volunteered to wait. Serial Number If we had to send back a number, they CAN NOT replace that number. They are starting at serial number 100 I believe on the returns. John |
Sometimes I forget to change the email address out when I print a shipping label. I bet that's what happened. I doubt you will get 2 lowers shipped to you. You can keep me posted if there are any errors on my part. John |

Actually, I had too many pots of coffee, and got a little dremel happy....  Mega is a good outfit, and there is no question they will make things right. I'm not sure how the hole was drilled a little out of whack, but I agree that Mega mistakes don't happen often, and they remain my #1 choice for personal builds. |
I ordered some and have not heard anything. I may have miss typed my email address because I never have gotten any email from them. ETA. Yep I did type the email address wrong.  It is fixed now.

Unfortunately the earliest I can pick up my 2 lowers will be the 25th, overtime is crazy, were pretty much working 12hr shifts everyday.  I knew I shoulda gone down last Saturday instead of the SCR shoot, but I did get to meet a couple of Arfcommers I hadn't met before so I guess its okay. If there's a shortage on available lowers I guess I could wait for the next batch If necessary.

I had several stripped Oly uppers with misdrilled dust cover rear holes. Apparently the long drill bit they use for that procedure was dull as hell and they ran 10+- uppers through it before catching the problem. Mistakes happen. I'm calling Mega tomorrow about their scrap lowers :) |
