sucks!!!!  I just spent over an hour (the first time was 43 minutes before I was hung up on) with them to get my internet to work again. My modem needed to be reset and all I needed was my PPPoA username & password and it was all fixed...but it took them over an hour to get to that point

Agreed, they have less than stellar CS. You couldn't just unplug it and plug it back in?

I keep getting booted by incoming calls. I'm hoping my local ISP can tell me the secret so I don't have to call Qwest.

I tried unplugging and replugging. I needed to reconfigure my modem, and I pressed 1 for english, but they kept passing me off to people who couldn't speak of lick of it!

I dunno... I got 8/1Mb for 50$ a month... I cant remember the last time my IP changed (over 6 months ago)...  Less than 50ms ping on most servers...  1MB or faster from any server that has the bandwith...

Only thing I cant wait for is getting FIOS fibre optic from verizon in here... Can you say 35/8Mb for 50$ or less?  TASTY

39.95 same speeds or faster. Microsoft update are about 12mg per minute, real download not BS from covad. Check it out if you ever become disinchanted. Tech support is real live AMERCANS! I have had it for 3 years and get one month a year free. (On electronic bill pay) Dino

Sorry, Dino, but 8Mb/1Mb is killing anything that Covad DSL offers...

You mean to tell me that you get 12mg a minute REAL download? Quest don't do it, Comcast don't do it. Tell me who does it? Other than Covad.

I do not know what you mean by 12mg first of all.

But I do actually download from many servers anywhere from 1000 - 1200KB a second.  Sometimes faster.

99% of the time, my download speeds are dependent on the speed of the server I am downloading from.

The fastest package that Covad offers is 6Mb/768Kb but that package costs 99.95$ a month. I rather doubt that Covad is letting people have that much free bandwith... especially on a 39.95$ package.

Oh, and Comcast has their WA state call centers in Fife and Everett...  Thats USA last time I checked...

All I know about Covad is that I downloaded the 27 megabite PATCH in 2 minutes and 17 seconds. NOTHING I have ever had is that fast. KB per second doesn't mean shit. What impresses me is how many megabites in how many minutes or seconds. I also know that I pay $39.95 a month and once a year I get a free month.

EVERY ISP says they are the greatest. EVERY ISP can't be. I have had several and will stick with what I have as long as they provide what they state.

Qwest did not.

Comcast did not.

AOL is a joke.

The tech support at Covad is great, setting up my wireless network I had shit so screwed up it was not funny. They got me all straitened out and none of the gear was there problem. After 3 years it is unlike I will change because some salesperson says that they are the fastest.

I have Comcast....but mine is free!

My Wife works for Comcast, in Fife as a matter of fact. But if you end up talking to her, it's because you didn't pay your bill.

I just checked my speed with Comcast.
8828 kbps download
325 kbps upload

I used to have Earthlink.  Call center was in India.  When I called I could barely understand the guy.  After many times having him repeat what he was saying I finally got through the call and my problem was solved.  At the end he asked me, "did I provide you with good service" (or something close to that)  I explained, the service was fine the language barrier was not.  He went on to tell me that my call was answered in India.  Cancelled the next day.  Got Comcast....

Ok... I download over 1Megabyte a second.  So I could get that same 27MB file in between 20-30 seconds.

That sounds *slightly* faster than yours.

OK who is the ISP and how much do you really pay?

On a side note do they supply Everclear?

Comcast is the ISP...  I pay about 55$ a month for the Comcast Pro 8MegaBit service.  I bought my own modem so that saves me like 5 or 10 a month.  There is also a standard internet service 6MegaBit plan that should run about 45$ a month last I knew (thats still way faster than Covad).

Sorry, Oregon supplies the LiquidDeath

Unless that went into effect in the last 45 days, then I bet it was only that store's policy for whatever reason.  Kind of dumb because EverClear and ClearSpring are the same thing. 190proof grain alcohol.
