Ok, I'll start off by asking if I'm being a bit unrealistic here. You tell me.

I buy a NEW Ruger SP101 on Dec. 9th. I first shot it on Dec. 24th. After 50 rounds the cylinder latch stopped latching. I thought it was bad ammo initially and damn near blew myself up. I shipped it back to Ruger last week, and I call for a status update today and am told it will be 4-6 weeks.

4-6 weeks? To replace a busted gun? (yeah, I want a replacement -- I don't trust things that try to blow me up when they are brand new, even when you supposedly fix them). Even to fix it, I'd expect a good company to jump right on this, I mean it was a brand new gun.

Currently rethinking my view of Ruger as a good company to deal with.

Oh, and when you leave them a message, they NEVER call you back. Tried that 3 times already.

Sure it was a Ruger?

Did it have CAI anywhere on the weapon?

I've dealt with a Ruger a few times. In my opinion, they like to promise small and then deliver big. Everything always showed up earlier than promised.... sometimes quite a bit.

All in all, I and the others I've heard of, all walked away satisfied by the time it was over.

Is it something you could have fixed yourself if Ruger sent you the parts?

Ruger has always been very good to me about fixing stuff (three weeks tops, including shipping time) or sending me replacement parts for free (on stuff I fucked up).

It was the cylinder latch. I may have been able to fix it, but its a brand-new gun so I figure its their responsibility.

I guess we'll see if they come through.
