Blue bear is City Cop, green bear is County Deputy.

Or they originally were, now anyone and everyone seems to have them.

I thought that these, at least originally, had to be obtained from the LEO's Guild.  Each officer was entitled to two, I believe.  My daughter has one on her truck.  I don't believe they actually have anything to do with the LEM.

There are three colors, Blue for City, Bronze for County and Silver for State.  At least that is my recollection.

I took a look at the LEM site, kind of funny, the plate they show, LEM 1234, is the plate my son-in-law has on his car.

As for the LEM itself, our family provides items for the annual Ball and Auction each year to help raise funds for the survivors of those killed in the line of duty.  Usually cigar related items and cigars.  They've been very popular items in the past.

That is because he is "twelvethirtyfour"..

I really need to start getting him some more barking dog complaints.

BTW: the last thing I would put on my ride would be one of those bears, people do know what they are, and there have been cases now of cops wives getting harassed. And I get plenty of calls every day of people calling into 9-1-1 to report cars driving like jackass's, and they always seem to make a point to let us know about the bears in the window...(and that just makes us not want to run that plate that much faster to find out who it reall is.)

So they are a bit above the law? If anything, they ought to be held to a higher standard.

People who use their cars as a platform to draw awareness to a cause shouldn't drive like jackasses.

LEOs don't commit crimes or violations. That is why we can trust them with the new DOJ database.

I am in total agreement with this.

ETA: Applies to both the cops and their family/friends.  The little "get out of jail free," mini badges that cops sometimes give to family and friends fall into the same boat in my opinion.  Though, I guess it's just another facet of the, "who you know," thing.

Hell, I've even been tempted to start reporting marked and unmarked cars for speeding.  I mean if "speed is involved in one third of fatal crashes," like the commercials keep trying to drill into my head, then shouldn't cops be the very ones setting the example?  And I don't mean while responding to calls, I'm talking trying to get to the Starbucks before they close, and yes I've followed a couple cops doing that.  Not actually following them, I was trying to get there before they closed too.  But then, I'm not the symbol of law, and I WILL get a ticket for it if I get caught.

ETA:  I just realised that I said I was in total agreement with Boomer.  And that I am!

I had one local sherriff deputy come flying up on my butt and then flip his lights on.  I thought he was going to bust me for doing 40 in a 35, but no, he was just trying to get his daughter and her friend to school on time.  Saw him dropping them off later as I drove by the junior high.
