If someone wanted to start a group buy on something locally, say Glock mags, how is this conducted?  (Oh, and IBTL - LOL)

In general:

Group buys are allowed but are limited to one at a time per HTF and 5 total across the HTFs at one time and must be authorized by staff.

Step 1)
Start a thread gauging interest and obtain the results before submitting the request to site staff for approval.

Step 2)
All details for the GB must be worked out before starting the ordering phase. These details should be submitted to Staff, via the HTF Mod(s) for approval.

Step 3) If the GB is approved

The GB ordering process should last no longer than 3 weeks, and deliveries should take place ASAP from the time the ordering phase ends.

A disclaimer will be posted in the original post of each GB.

***Disclaimer: Even though this Group Buy has been approved by the Hometown Forum Mod, and Staff; AR15.com accepts no liabilitly for this Group Buy and is not responsible for any problems that might occur. We suggest that everyone does their homework before agreeing to take part in this Group Buy. **

Since it would be local, would a group buy on actual guns (or AR lowers) be possible?  Just find a dealer (maybe Teknic @ Rainierarms) who's willing to do a bulk order...

I could see picking up another lower if the price was right.  AR and Glock mags are always good too!

James has Glock magazines for a pretty good price.
However, if there were to be a group buy on Glock magazines I would hope that the buy would be on the Scherer mags.

(Wonder how long it's going to be before they'll make them for the XD series.)

Ive actually got the titanium framing version one on the left, its the shit. After breaking several lesser $30-$80 hammers, Deathstick x5+/Vaughn Ti/Douglas x2, I broke down and bought the company bought me a $175 hammer last summer. They're now in the $220 range due to Ti prices, and I'm on my 3rd replacement head.

How about TI composite 10/22 magazines?  These things rock.

I have three now and three more on order so I'm good.  But if you guys order 25 or more the price comes down to $24 each, 50 or more at $23 each.

There's a group buy going on at Rimfirecentral.com for those right now. (or it was a couple of days ago when I stumbled on to it)

Actually, that's where my other three are coming from.  However, the guy putting that one together is keeping a 'free' mag for himself as a sort of fee for his time, bumping the price.  I thought that us being so cozy and all we might be able to follow up with one of our own.

When I found the thread, I had intended to link it in the 22 rifle section of AR15.com. But after further reading and seeing how the thread degenerated towards the end (as far as it was the other day), I decided I didn't really want my name on it. I didn't really have any problem with him making his own decisions on what he believes is fair, but his defensiveness left me not wanting to do any business with him. (he may be a decent enough guy, but he didn't convey it IMO)

You've seen how some of these things spiral out of control, right?
I'd say anyone who spearheads a GB, deserves a freebie, even if all goes smooth, just the time invested alone....

Actually no, I've never been involved with a group buy before, but I can see how it could get messy.

How 'bout on a case of .30 M2 Ball from CMP; this or this...?

The advantage of doing it in the HTF being that whoever takes delivery of the case(s), we arrange a FTF so everyone who participates can pick up their can(s) in person.
