| I'm looking at moving to WA, Seattle specifically. I was offered a pretty good job and they're making the move worth it, but one of the things I'm wondering about is what the laws and political climate is like in regards to firearms. For one, will I be able to move here and buy AR's at my leisure, or are there laws in the works that will prevent this. I did a bit of searching on google, but the information seems to suggest that no existing ban on EBR's are out there. Is there anything in the government pipeline in WA on the state level that will change this? Thanks for any information, I appreciate your time. |

When the legislature begins it's 2007 session you can bet money that version of last years Assault Weapons Ban bills HB1627 and SB5475 will be reintroduced. These bills, IIRC, would create a pre-post ban environment in WA, create a registry of EBRs with a background check and require yearly renewals, limit EBR magazines to 10 rounds capacity, and allow for a yearly storage inspection by the county sheriff. Other anti gun bills that will be face include a 50 caliber ban and an anti gun show bill. |
I'm a little confused about this response, care to elaborate? Also, after looking up the state and house bills mentioned above, I got to thinking; what kind of margin did these bills lose by? Does anybody have that information? Is this an uphill battle or just feel good attempts by the left that pose no threat in reality? Thanks again! |
I actually am coming from a summer in Alaska, so the rain gear is no problem. (Helle Hansen gear found cheap at the army navy store in Anchorage on 4th) Beers on me, so long as you guys drink the dark stuff, my money is never wasted on piss water! |

None of the bills have yet been passed out of the Senate judiciary committee thus there have been no senate votes on them. This year a committee vote was held on the antigun show bill where it failed 5-3 (with a 6th no vote not present) The House leader has for the past two years agreed to not take any action on the anti gun bills unless they are first passed out of the Senate Judicary Committee. 2005 saw a big push for anti gun bills and supporters of gun rights responded by packing the hearing with oppostion to the bills. In 2006 they really only pushed for the anti gun show bill and once again we responded with solid numbers at the hearing. The legislature will start it's 2007 session in early January, watch the forum there will be plenty of information and discussion about what is going on. |
| Well that sucks.. looks like you Washingtonians are gonna be screwed like us in the PRKhock.gif... so much for my thought of moving up there |

Poor economy = less jobs = fewer people moving here or better yet, people start moving away = the area stops going to shit so quickly. I'm sure you're a nice guy and all, but there are too damn many people here now. Hope you like some of the worst traffic in the nation, ridiculous housing prices (yes, the market is still appreciating here), all kinds of taxes, having to drive for hours to find an open area where shooting is legal, and a predominance of liberalism. It's not getting any better. Perhaps a sustained 9.0 earthquake or Mt Rainier erupting would do the trick, too. |
