Can anyone recommend some RELIABLE aftermarket mags for a 10/22?  The "Hot Lips" mags I bought aren't  so hot....in fact, they suck.

Thanks.

I just recieved some from Tactical Innovations, (25rd mags) on the advice of RFC members. I'm waiting on some bolt-tricking-work to return from back east, to see how they work.

They don't give them away, but I hear they are as good as it gets.

Steel Lips..

On the other hand, how many  rounds have you put through them?

Mine took a good 300 or 400 to get working. Also if its a match 10/22, odds are aftermarkets won't work. Theres enough slop in the standard 10/22 chamber that it doesn't matter, but match chambers are tighter.

Umm...yeah, they are definitely not giving them away....I may pick up 1 or 2 at that price...but I think I'll have to go with the Steel lips for the bulk of my mags.

The funny thing is, my last 10/22 fed reliably with anything, even those crappy Eagle mags.

Jonathon: Only 100 rounds or less through each. Of the 4 I bought 2 work (kinda) if there are 15 rounds or less, and the other 2 not at all. Bad, weak springs maybe? I don't think you can disassemble the BC mags to replace them though.

Rumor has it that the price is going up to $72 or $74some soon. I can't recall the exact date or where I read it, but it's soon, and it's steep.

I have one.  Eh.  My Butler Creek mags (both hot lips and steel lips) work just as well if not better.

Of course I made a major modification to my 10/22 because of that stupid Tactical Innovations magazine, and that modification is why my 10/22 eats all ammo now.

It involved a Dremel tool.

Remove the barrel from the receiver, then clean it out.
Now drop a round down into the chamber.

Does it drop freely?

No?

Take a Dremel tool and a 8153 aluminum oxide grinding stone and LIGHTLY hone out the chamber until the round drops freely into the chamber.

I did that with mine and 99% of the feed problems went away.

On that particular 10/22 I have the Butler Creek .920 carbon fiber bull barrel on it.

I just bought a couple of Butler Creek Steel Lips magazines at Sportco for $24 a piece.

I'll give that a try Joe. I've got a BC .920 blued on mine.
