Has anyone here had any semi-serious or worse experiences with it? Did you see a doc? What cured it? What caused it? etc..... |
| Yes I have had it, It ended up being due to a inner ear problem, I had it for about a month before I decided to get checked out. I have a medication I can take when I get the dizzyness/cattywompus feeling. I have not had a spell in a long time, but every now and then I do get one. Too me it is like a really bad case of Motion Sickness, and the medication they give me is to keep me from puking, and helps stop the spins. |

Yes. I've had 4 experiences with this since my recent heart surgery. 3 times, I felt like I was spinning to the left and felt compelled to look in that direction. 1 time I awoke to a kaleidoscope like vertical spin to the right --- I puked that time. Each episode lasted 3-5 minutes. Medication was the suspected cause and the times or situations it occurred were different. The doctors suspected no other cause than medication. It is a disconcerting experience and should be checked immediately. Good Luck. |

It can be caused by numerous things, and by definition Vertigo is "unexplained" dizziness. My wife had fluid in her ear and exacerbated it by using a small screened hand held device for work. Your eyes can have trouble tracking the text as it shifts up the screen and then Whamo! You have dizziness. It can be from a head injury or something neurological. If you would like I can give you the name of my wife's doc that specializes in this stuff. He got her cured pretty well and she says he's helped others that have gotten this sort of thing. The tuff part is figuring out what is causing your dizziness. Or you could just have the spins like 2WP |
Thanks for the thoughtful replies, (some of you ).This has been an ongoing deal recently. Major headspins out of the blue, mostly when driving at hwy speeds. They started about 10 weeks ago, and have gradually gotten worse. Yesterday and today have provided me enough ambition to go see a doc. (this afternoon) Luckily I have someone to drive me. Honestly, I don't think I could pull it off, as it seems to be increasing in frequency and intensity. I've also been spending a few hours each day the past few weeks, doing some landscape work on the riverbank in the yard. Its about 25-30' down, and nearly verticle. You can bet it's been a nerve-racking-white-knuckle task with the dizzy spells to deal with. I suspect an inner ear infection, but who knows. The nurse on the phone says I should have come in much sooner, but half the stuff I've read on the innernut says it goes away on it's own. Dunno, but right now I can barely turn my head without feeling like a weeble-wobble.The nausea has been a constant, but no vomitting. (I don't think it's possible anyhow. I've lived on ships before) So hopefully there's a quick remedy. The only time I feel normal is during cocktail hour! Thanks again. |
