I was under the impression it was illegal for the nonlicensed to own and/or detonate fireworks in WA. That must be incorrect as I saw a fireworks for sale stand on the Woodinville-Duvall Rd last night. Is it up the the town whether theyre legal or not? Its hard to imagine theyd be generally legal to use. Hey, if theyre legal then thats all good too and I certainly wont complain!

A fireworks wholesaler pulled up on the job yesterday and sold me about 250 bucks worth of fireworks for $92!

Suposedly he is an operator for the company or some such.

What is illegal is is to remove indian bought fireworks from the res. Everyone does it, though.

OK...thanx. I suppose I should have just searched first but thanx for answering. It appears that the Bothell FD really doesnt like it that fireworks (some) are allowed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are fireworks legal in the City of Bothell?

The City of Bothell does allow the sale and discharge of state-approved Class C fireworks within certain dates. Sales dates are July 1st through July 4th - times vary by date. Discharge times are July 4th ONLY, from 9 am – 11 pm.

How do I know which fireworks are legal?

The Washington State Patrol maintains the list of legal fireworks, which includes ground and hand-held sparkler devices, certain aerial devices (small mortars), smoke devices, and devices which offer combinations of these effects. Firecrackers, salutes, chasers, skyrockets, and bottle rockets are not allowed. For further information, including examples, please visit the WSP web site at www.wa.gov/wsp/fireworks or call them at their toll free number 1-888-295-8594.

Is there an age requirement for buying or setting off fireworks?

You must be at least 16 to purchase fireworks and at least 18 to discharge fireworks.

Where can fireworks be discharged?

No discharge is allowed at City or public parks. Schools, churches, and private facilities must be contacted and approval granted before any discharge occurs on their property.

Shouldn’t the city simply ban fireworks?

There has been much debate on the effects of total bans. Most of the problems associated with fireworks pertain to devices already banned either by state or national regulations. A ban on the currently available “safe and sane” fireworks may increase the use of these illegal devices. It is estimated that 90% of all “fireworks” related fires can be attributed to illegal devices.

How do I lodge a complaint?

For the use of illegal devices or fireworks use outside of approved hours (July 4th, 9 am – 11 pm) dial 911. Please keep in mind city resources will be stretched thin during the fireworks season and may not be able to respond immediately. Calls will be prioritized based first on threat of personal injury and/or property damage before disturbance calls.

General Safety Tips:

   *
Always read and follow label directions.
   *
     Have an adult present.
   *
     Buy from reliable sellers.
   *
     Use outdoors only.
   *
Always have water handy. A garden hose and a bucket.
   *
Never experiment or make your own fireworks.
   *
Light only ONE firework at a time
   *
Never re-light a “dud” firework. Wait 15 to 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water.
   *
Never give fireworks to small children.
   *
Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in your trashcan.
   *
Never throw or point fireworks at other people.
   *
Never carry fireworks in your pocket.
   *
Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers.
   *
The shooter should always wear eye protection and never have any part of the body over the firework.
   *
     Stay away from illegal explosives.
   *
What Parents Need to Know – from WSP website –
   *
Don't wait until you get to the emergency room. Talk with your kids about safety and fireworks.

In 2001, 669 fireworks-related incidents were reported to the State Fire Marshal. There was no adult supervision in 17 percent of these incidents. Supervision is paramount in keeping children safe. Ensure the close supervision of children whenever fireworks are present. Fireworks should not be available to tempt the curiosity of children. Be sure all unused fireworks, matches and lighters are out of reach and sight of children. Fireworks should be stored in a secured location to prohibit access by children.

Talk to family members and guests about the fireworks laws for your area. Don't overestimate your child's ability and judgment in handling fireworks. Set family boundaries, only adults should light fireworks.

For additional information see the City of Bothell website at www.ci.bothell.wa.us, the Washington State Patrol website at www.wa.gov/wsp/fireworks, or contact City of Bothell Fire and E.M.S. at 425.486.1678.

Ask a doctor for something. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) will also work in a pinch. Take two. There is also an over-the-counter herbal concoction called Calm's Forte that works well.

I have had PTSD caused sleeplessness for the last 35 years. I know many Jedi tricks.

Do like I do, go cheap and buy the Kirkland Signature equivalent. This is the only antihistimine I can take. One Claritan keeps me awake for a week. The Diphenhydramine dries out the sinuses, but does nothing for me vis a vis being able to sleep.

That I may have to look into.
Been working "4-10s" for the last year and a half or so, 1 PM to 1130 PM, getting home after midnight and not able to sleep until 3-4 AM.  (In case anyone was wondering why my post times were so...unique...eccectric...wierd...)
Changing back to "5-8s" next week, home by 10PM, so maybe...
