Concentraion camps in America

Remember the congressional rep from Omak that had the Bill funding a centration camp in the Omak area and was making a big stink about internment camps in Washington state ?

I wonder where he is now ?

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- KBR, the engineering and construction subsidiary of Halliburton Co, (HAL), said Tuesday it has been awarded a contingency contract from the Department of Homeland Security to supports its Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities in the event of an emergency. The maximum total value of the contract is $385 million and consists of a 1-year base period with four 1-year options. KBR held the previous ICE contract from 2000 through 2005. The contract, which is effective immediately, provides for establishing temporary detention and processing capabilities to expand existing ICE Detention and Removal Operations Program facilities in the event of an emergency influx of immigrants into the U.S., or to support the rapid development of new programs, KBR said. The contract may also provide migrant detention support to other government organizations in the event of an immigration emergency, as well as the development of a plan to react to a national emergency, such as a natural disaster, the company said.

A couple questions...Im not familiar w/ the rep from Omak or his bill. What was that about briefly? This was money that WA state was going to spend? Why would a state build something like this? I dont understand exactly what happened...if he had a bill funding a camp how is it that he was against them? Open hyprocracy would be easily found out.

From the full article its unclear where these camps/centers are being built. Off the top of my head the amt being spent seems rather small. Im not sure what it costs to build one these but $385million seems small considering fences, dorms, towers, warehouses, roads, etc.

It was federal funding for a camp in the Omak area, the local state rep was furious and was on every seattle talk show he could get on raising cane about it, the fed bill was already funded and contracted out to a contractor, and the rep had the contract in hand so it could not be called rumor it is fact, however that was 5 years ago and I have not heard a thing since about it.

They have already stated they will use stadiums as emergency centers like they did with the superdome in NOLA, the U.S. has a history of incarcerating Americans claiming it's a necessity.

Thanx. Was it ever built? If so where it is in Omak? Anyone been out there to see it? I had no idea where Omak was and looked it up. Now that I know it seems an odd place to build such a camp. There's nothing out there and the roads arent condusive to heavy traffic. I've been out Rt2 thru the mtns and over to Cooley several times (really nice country!). Theres little else besides wheat fields and open country.

It seems that the stadium 'thing' doesn't always work out well as we saw in NO. In fact nearly every hurricane, despite early warnings, always has a dicey outcome for the locals. It seems odd that more people in those areas don't provide for themselves more adequately. They know its a recurring event and the only question is severity.

I can't see how these camps would be for illegals unless their country experienced a disaster and they migrated to the US enmass b/c of it. Given current events our govt seems to have no interest in rounding up the illegals. So the camps wouldn't be for that purpose. Perhaps theyre thinking of using it for ME types in the event of terrorist attacks in the US? I've read the reports of some who think theyre for Americans who hold unpopular political positions...but that just doesnt seem likely in todays environment. How would They accomplish such mass roundups w/o getting ventilated? Perhaps the camps are for quarantine....as in bird flu or whatever its called. In that case using a remote area makes perfect sense. Using them in the case of a natural disaster seems completely bogus b/c of transport issues.

The announcement is for the awarding of a contingency contract for support of facilities. In other words, the gov't awards a lot of these types of contracts in case something happens during the contract period, fast response can take place.

KBR had a contingency contract for hurricane cleanup for Gulf naval facilities that was awarded a couple of years ago for a 5 year period. That allowed them to start the cleanup immediately at a cost set by earlier competitive bid.

This contract would be for support, in other words, supply, commissary, and other logistics needs that are not within the scope of the agencies regular role and abilities. This allows the "support" to begin immediately upon need, at a fixed cost from prior competitive bid.

It is not for construction, just up to 5 years of cooking, supply, etc, for whatever facilities already exist.

I believe I answered the questions above but it is really very simple at it's root, America was founded as a nation of self rule, government was supposed to be as small as possible and always fearful of it's master the people, the people consented to laws that restrict government and not themselves as the laws governing the actions of the individual are constant throughout thw world, don't murder, don't steal, don't lie, your freedom is only limited by the natural rights of individuals around you.

What government has become is a power monopoly, authority and law have no effect upon the leviathon we call the State.

The government sees the individual as it's enemy and a resource to be disposed of not a living breathing soul and master of government.

If they gov intended good it would leave the money in the hands of the people that earned it, but instead it takes the money at gunpoint and gives it to giant corporations to squander on parties for the plutocrats, none of the money is at the local level in the hands of good stewards ready to respond to disaster, it is big socialist government, a monster without a brain or a heart, no mercy, no compassion.

Some believe that government knows best, when in fact government has knows only self preservation at the expense of the people.

We have seen the fruits of Halliburton, and they are not good.

OK...I was thinking of these questions from my reply above:

1) Was anything ever built (in Omak)?
2) If so where?
3) Anyone been out there to see it?

I had no idea where Omak was and looked it up. Now that I know it seems an odd place to build such a camp. There's nothing out there and the roads arent condusive to heavy traffic. I've been out Rt2 thru the mtns and over to Cooley several times (really nice country!). Theres little else besides wheat fields and open country. It would seem to be a logistic problem to supply such a place.

4) Why build a 'camp' in Omak unless you're attempting to isolate a group for some reason?

I can't see how these camps would be for illegals unless their country experienced a disaster and they migrated to the US enmass b/c of it. Given current events our govt seems to have no interest in rounding up the illegals. So the camps wouldn't be for that purpose. In that case using a remote area makes perfect sense. Using them in the case of a natural disaster seems completely bogus b/c of transport issues.

5) From above paragraph...no particular question just trying to get some discussion about it I guess.

2) If so where? that is a poor area if there is work everybody would be applying for a job there

3) Anyone been out there to see it? locals & natives havent seen anything

4) Why build a 'camp' in Omak unless you're attempting to isolate a group for some reason? same could be said of ColVille Washington Indian reservation that is also listed as a site, or Colorado,Alaska and other remote desolate sites

Pandemics/epidemics NBC contamination whatever the claimed necessity it is a bad response to the situation unless the motives are evil

5) From above paragraph...no particular question just trying to get some discussion about it I guess, Agreed, it needs to be discussed because what is going on now is the same thing that went on in the late 1930s that lead to the world war, the people at the time believed their government leaders then too.

Everyone needs to remember that the SeaTac Detention Center was built under the guise of needing a holding center for illegal aliens. We all knew that was bullshit because they don't put illegal aliens in prison in this country, they coddle them and give'm a voter registration card and food stamps and send them on their merry way. The point I'm trying to make is simply no matter what reason the Fuds give for providing funding for a camp to be used as a refugee center or quarantien center or whatever, you can bet your bottom dollar that it is really meant to be a prison. The government has a bad track record when it comes to telling the truth.

Preparing contingency plans.

How dare they!

Damned for not having plans, damed if they do make them.

The Kingdome is nothing more than a giant concentration camp.
Link Posted: 2/23/2006 7:12:02 PM EDT
Maybe the funding for the camps is just being diverted to black projects.

They used the rubble they carted off to build a camp somewhere and it's held together with the same pixie dust that Le Mas uses for their magic bullets.
