I was curious how many of the WA HTF crowd went on to higher learning. School of hardknocks aside, who went for the titles and certificates on the walls? I scaped by and got a HS diploma, thanks to woodshop and a future father in law who insisted his daughters boyfriend stay in school. Then off to trade school with .guv in the USN Seabees. (16 weeks...... 418 college credits...... you do the math Never touched a keyboard until the early 90s, and then I found out why everyone said, "Do your homework, or you'll end up digging ditches!!" (I've dug a few.... ain't so bad) Always have wondered if life would have been better if I'd have been the classroom type. How 'bout you? |

Graduated from high school in Seattle, spent a year at the University of Washington, then out into the "real world" to work for ten years. Was a regional sales rep, then later a VP for Operations. After working for a living for ten years I decided that school looked pretty good again. Went back to the UofW and got my BA in Psychology and then my JD from the UofW Law School. I think most of my education truly came in the ten years of the "real world".

GED in 86 followed by a year of community college in Centralia. Tired of going to regular school I then embarked on a tour in the school of hard knocks consisting of a myriad of exciting careers such as; picking morts from large pools of fish; grave yard line cook at the Rib Eye off the Napavine exit in the LCR territory; various glamorous positions in the construction trades; a couple years fishing in AK while trying not to be killed; underground utility work (pipe layer) ; water, sewage, drainage installation etc; and last but not least I now jockey a desk for the last 5 years after a year or so at Bates Technical College training to be a MS Administrator or Network admin and work with POS systems that rely on excel, interbase, and MS sql server but not necessarily in that order. I made better money as a pipe layer than anything but the hours were hellish. I became afflicted with RA at 26 or I would more than likely be running a pipe crew at this point. I know they are glamorous positions but someone HAS to do it! So as far as the original question I have a couple years post GED in places of higher learning if you could call them that. I have no formal degree however which I don't know if I really regret or not. |
| Graduate from Stadium High in 2001 and then went on the Boston University for a semester before I relized that our educational systems needs a dramatic overhaul. Came home, and continued working. Tried to go to Evergreen last year, but it wasn't right. Hoping to start at Pierce sometime within the next few years with an end goal of being an english teacher with side passions of botony and photography. |
Graduated HS in Sandpoint, Id. Went to North Idaho College for a couple years, transferred to Lewis and Clark just in time to drop out to support a family. Got into landscaping locally due to negative $ inflow, self-taught horticulturist/Spanish speaker, worked my way up the ladder, now I mow grass and kill roaches and rats for scumbags in a public housing authority. I can't be more specific lest I somehow raise the ire of the libtards who support my employment

OMFG you are/were too spoiled, if I recall Kamiak had golf carts for getting around, and a pool right in the middle of f'ning campus. (I was a swimmer for Snohomish in HS) BA from UW |

Graduated from High School in 1995 with average grades. I was accepted to WSU and was going to go to veterinary college, but I didn't go. Instead I got married at age 18 and had a kid at age 19. THAT has been a learning experience. I spent a few years running machinery for a construction company. In 1998 I got tired of that type of work and went to Bates Technical College (where I met extraordinary people like Bosifus). I spent two years at Bates studying Microsoft and Cisco systems. I obtained a few industry certifications while I was there but I was too lazy to finish a math class and get my Associates Degree. In 2000 I got divorced, finished school, and hired on at the company I'm still with today. I wind up being sent to classes and conferences a couple times a year. The schooling never quite ends does it? |
| Graduated in 1999 from a continuation high school. Busted my ass and graduated 4 months early when I started my first job at Round Table Pizza. Woo Hoo!! Shortly after I moved to beautiful Stockton, California to go to a jc and take random classes like photography. Didn’t like the whole college thing and some how ended up in Washington. |

Ejukatud........ Heck, my '4 year' diploma sits in it's frame..... ....but the frame is still in its box....... ETA- ....a '4 year degree' is the equal to the HS diploma of 'way yesteryear'. One pretty much has to have it to get concidered for "anything"....... at least that is my observation. |
I too am a 1997 High School Graduate but of Graves County High School. I did some trade school IN high school I went to state championships in welding competitions, I also dabbled a bit in machine shop and electricity. Then after high school I took a wilton wedding cake course and mastered that as well.....Now I am in the running for a Child Support Enforcement Officer position that requires a Bacholers degree, but I am finding my way around that |

Graduated from Everett High school in 1980....that summer I went to work for the California forest service, as a "hot shot"...got tired of that and went fishing in Alaska. Got tired of them trying to kill me in AK, ended up back in Everett worked for a certain landscape supply company for over 5 years. Went to work for a large developer based in Woodinville...couldn't stand working for a drunk. Decided enough was enough.....2.5 years at Lake Washington Tech....came out as a newly minted Auto Tech...working for an Indie shop in Everett , 5 ASE bars. My education is ongoing....the manufactuers come up with new stuff yearly to confound us. |

Grew up in the school of hard knocks Joined the military and learned some valuable trade skills (6yrs communications at the JTF level) Took 100k+ in trade schools, taught some continuing education and did a little contracting Went back to night school for a BS in E-Business (University of Phoenix). Graduated with a 3.82 Am about 1/3 of the way through my MBA in IT Management now (University of Phoenix) Most practical knowledge I've learned I picked up via "hard knocks" and the Army. Although, I've been living in corporate America since 97 and am now placing some value on my current job experience. |
| Graduated HS in 2003. Applied to UW and WSU. Didn't get into UW because I applied the last day. Got into WSU no problem but didn't really want to go there. Went to Bellevue Community College for a yr. Figured it would be better to spend less of my parents money till I decided want I wanted to do. Decided to join the Army for fun and as a challenge. Had always been interested so I enlisted. I've spent the last 16months training and still have another 7 or so to go. |
| Graduated in 95, went to Green River CC for a year. Then got an athletic scholarships to the Univ of Tenn at Martin. Went there for 2 years. Finally realized the real reason I went off to college was to shoot on the rifle team, and not to learn anything. So I left school, got a job at Wally world. Been there ever since. |
+1 Only it took me 4 years to get stoned enough to dropout. My parents Dropped out the first quarter of my Senior year. Computer Science/Math minor. Went back to trucking, then on to Management for 7 years, was offended every day of my work life. Loved my job and the company, hated being in office environments. I chose to do what I am doing now, and I love it. The money is ok, the work is fun, and personally rewarding.

| I graduated HS in 78 with honors then on to college via scholarship. Went to Univ. So. Ms. where I discovered party 101 and lost said scholarship after 3 semesters due to drop in GPA. Yeah my dad was pissed. Moved out here with a job and met my now ex-spouse. Had kids, he didn't work so I put myself into vo-tech school and came out an LPN in 87 and have been doing that since. |
