Went out with Bud and Bo(his oldest son), for Bo's first buck.

Well we found him at about 9AM a nice forked horn at about 40 yards in the road.  Well that shot didn't get off.  The buck was headed for a clearcut so they ran around the corner to try again.  I went back to the road to make sure it didn't cross again.  I waited...............Boom.  I wait for something.... nothing.  I creep to where I can see them and I see the buck, about 15 feet away.  The buck sees me and decides it is time to go.   Across the clearcut he goes.  He has a perfect shot as he crosses the road but,  it is in straight in line with the truck.  He takes another shot at about 100 yards in the cut but, he hits the jackfirs.

Buckfever Bud said was an understatement.  He accidentally put the shooting stick down on Bo's foot the first time and he said it was like a jackhammer.  Told him he needed to calm down.  Oh well off we go.

The first weekend Bud's youngest son Cole went out and got a spike, the next weekend another friend's son got a spike about 100 yards from the first one.  So at about 1:30 and 500 yards from the others.  Bo gets redemption.  120 yard shot off a shooting stick perfect neck shot.  The pack was another story, luckily it was small

4:30 we pull up to a clearcut and I glass one 400+ yards out straight away from me, I can't see the horns like I want and tell Bud to take a look.  He starts walking up the road to(I  assume) to get a look from another angle.  I see him out of the corner of my lay down on an old stump looking through his rifle.  It dawns on me he is not looking for my benefit.  I said you aren't planning on shooting the >>>BOOM!!!<<<

I missed he said how far you think that is?  400 - 450 yards, I said but, I really think I >>>BOOM!!!<<<  I hit him...

Great glad to hear it but, I >>>BOOM!!!<<<

He had to pack it himself.
