Fuck these guys. Sleazy fucks who tried every trick in the book on me. I even heard "How high are you willing to go". (Gimme a break) Pulled out my trusty Washington Memoribilia and sat that on the table. The WORST of it was them trying to DOUBLE and in one case TRIPLE charge me for bogus stuff on teh itemization form. The itemization form I stole from them as proof is attached. Before hand I have researched and researched and researched the fuck outta what I should be paying, what I should be wary of, etc, etc, etc. The vehicle we're talking about is this- 2005 Toyota Tacoma DoubleCab 4X4 LongBed AT w/ SR5 Package #5 (tow kit, power, etc, etc) REAL FACTORY INVOICE (packages included)- $26,011, MSRP-$29,670 I offered them 4% above their cost, not what the MSRP was, plus tax/licensing- $29,402 The said no, and countered with "this costs us $28k plus all these other costs" (see below). Here's a rundown with the costs- PUO? Fuck that, pure BS costs (literally doesn't exist)- $450!?!?! Advertising? Their explanation was "that's our cost of doing business". Really? So how about you guys pay MY cost of DRIVING?? Assfucks- $549!?!?! PER VEHICLE!?!?!? Min Comissions- $300 THAT'S IN YOUR 4%!!!!!!!Prep/Handling!!!!! $209!?!?! THE FUCKING MANUFACTURER PAYS THAT!!!!!! That's a TRIPLE CHARGE!!!!!! "Flooring Costs"- $275!?!?!? First off it doesn't exist. If it's close to anything REAL, that's both "Holdback" and "Prep/Handling". The ONLY cost that was legit was B&O Tax. I would pay that +4% for their profit. (They deserve a profit, but not if it's from lying to me). I loved the look on the salesman's face when I told him I was walking and he said "well, what else do you think we can do?" My reply- "Stop lying to me". He said "we aren't", and I said goodnight. I highly recommend that you all read "Confessions of a Car Salesman" on Edmunds.com. It is quite a lengthy article, but I found it fascinating. It is very well written and gives you great insight as to what really goes on in the dealership. www.edmunds.com/advice/buying/articles/42962/article.html?tid=edmunds.a.landing.feature..3.* |

Funny how their "no hassle" pricing is only $5 less than MSRP. Also, if you do their financing, they get a sizeable kickback from the bank too. That is why they are always able to negotiate on the rate. They get a base rate from the bank, and every % point over that base rate is theirs to keep. All of the items they list on the "no hassle" invoice are just their supposed over-head items, and most of them don't count as they turn the vehicles faster than that usually. Offering 4% over invoice is quite generous of you. I bought my Durango for $500 over invoice (about 1.5%.) |
Most (if not all) Toyota trucks are made here in America. They are still owned by a foreign corporation, but they make many of their vehicles here. This is mostly so they can avoid costly import tariffs. |
Correct. One of the best selling cars in the USA ( The Honda Accord ) Final assembly plant is in Marysville Ohio If you wanna convince my old man ( retired General Motors 40 years as a millwright ) that a Toyota AIN'T a foreign car .... you better bring a lunch |
Yeah, Nearly EVERY Toyota is made in Cali. The rest are made in the Mid-West somewhere. Most "Domestic" Brands are made in Mexico or Canada anyways. |
Do some web searching on B&O tax and you will see that WA Code specifically says they can NOT pass this on to you... They usually try to hide it as something else. |

"made" versus "assembeled" And where does the profit go??? I allowed half the profit off my Toledo Ohio made Jeep to go abroad, mostly due to bad (nonexistant) research. It wont happen again. My next vehicle will be a Ford truck, profitsa to Detroit, made in either Detroit or Kentucky.

I'll make sure no one else trys to fuck me with that when I hit up Nissan Dealerships today. -U- |

Yawn.... A car stealership trying to rip someone off? Is this really news? Do your homework and come up with a price you are willing to pay (which it sounds like you have done) and shop around at different dealers. But this is probably why I don't buy new(er) cars more often than I do. Because the process is such a hassle. |

I went looking at new and used 04 Ford F-150's. Same smell from the Ford salesmen. I had one stupid bitch look at the DOD sticker on the window of my truck and ask me what squadron I was with. I guess the big RET sticker above the DOD sticker and the fact that I have a ![]() I had another salesman take me to look at 4 trucks, none of them were even close to what I was looking for. As I walked out the door he asked me what it would take to get me to drive a new truck off the lot. I replied "hookers and blow, hookers and blow...." as I walked away. |
Don't expect me to 'come out of the closet' just because you are out of the closet. |
