Anybody know of a good varmit hunting area in the Washington or Oregon area? Looking to hunt some sage rats and rock squirrels or the like. Prefer something eastward along the I-84 corridor.

The ARFCOM "Any question answered in 30 minutes of less" clock starts .....now

WTF is a sage rat or rock squirrel?  Is that like a prarie dog or rock chucks?  If so I know that there is some excellant prarie dog hunting over in the Bend, OR area.  That is the only place that I can tell you.  I am actually going hunting coyotes and prarie dogs on Sunday.....But I am on vacation in Wyoming to.

A group of us got about 70 sage rats a few weeks ago near Zilla.  They're all over in the orchards there.  You'll have to talk to a farmer to let you shoot on their property though. That's not very likely if they don't know you (can you blame them?).  The best places are where the grass has been recently mowed or there is little grass to begin with (or maybe on property bordering an orchard provided its legal).

Thats the first time I've heard them refered to as sage rats in a long time!  You must be from central Oregon.  I'm suffering from the lack of rodent and jack rabbit hunting here in Washington too.

I have heard there is excellent Prairie Dog varminting in Boise.  Anyone know of Dog Towns in Eastern Washington?   I am going to be in the Tri Cities area in July

Last night, I returned from my second trip this season to Montana for Prairie Rats.

It really is worth the drive.  I'm going a third time at the end of the month.

Having grown up in Montana there are alot of places to whack "GOPHERS". my special place is  just off the road going into Miners lake near Dillon.  They are all over the place. You'll run out of ammo before you run out of gophers.  I lived in Boise where the call them whislte pigs , plenty of spots to  get them there also I used to go out by the prison.  And Finally I just came back back from sage rat huntin a couple weeks ago  in central oregon. I went down by Mitchel.  Kind of a scary place the little shit hole reminded me of the show deliverence  HA .  Its all posted down there no hunting  but I had no problem getting on a farmers land with permission , setting up  the shooting bench  and killing all I could for 2 days.  . Hope  this helps. Good luck
