So, my wife is looking at a job in New York but she found out that she might be able to work out of Berkeley Heights or Princeton.  So, there is no way that I will live in New York or New Jersey but PA looks promising.  It seems gun friendly.  It looks like there are some communities right on the state line that are right between Philadelphia and New York.  My question is what are gun laws like.  I saw a thread where class III is a go which makes me think that they are like where I am from.  I am assuming concealed carry, no AWB or goofy rules about fixed stocks, flash hiders or 'high cap' magazines.  However, I would love to hear what it is like from your experiences.  Also, what places could we live that are close to New Jersey.  I saw a couple of places that are geographically convenient for us in Levittown or Langhorne or Yardley but I don't know if they are desirable places to live.  Also, we don't have kids but we will someday and we would probably look at private schools so recommendations on schools or areas to live in that would be close to schools would be great.  Thanks for the help!  ARF members have saved us from three horrible life decisions this week!!

Langhorne and Yardley are both EXCELLENT.

Not far from Princeton either.

Good clubs and places to shoot here.

You will love the area.

I like living here.  Not to sure about where to live near the commie borders.  As far as guns go, this is a very free state.  If you can afford it, you can have it here.  All CIII stuff.  CCW when you get a Pa drivers licence.

Yardley and Langhorne are great areas, along with Newtown. All 3 are within about 45 minutes of Princeton, NJ in normal traffic. The schools are good in the area and crime is low.

can't comment ont he other side of the state since i'm near pittsburgh. i will comment on the gun laws.

PA is a free state as far as gun laws and carrying. we can have all forms of class III and destructive devices. you get your LTCF (License to carry Firearms) from your county sheriff or if you live in a city of the first class you get it from your local police dept. A LTCF allows you to carry concealed on you or in your vehicle or Conceal carry/Open carry in a city of the first class. You can Open Carry a firearm without a LTCF as long as you are on foot, with the excecption of being in a city of the first class. once you enter a vehicle you need a LTCF as it is considered concealed.

more info can be found here:

http://forum.pafoa.org/concealed-open-carry-121/7582-read-first-where-you-can-cannot-carry-weapons-state-pennsylvania.html

as for firearms themselves, you can have anything you want, NFA rules apply. no mag limits.........

make sure you register to vote and VOTE when you get here. we are constantly fighting to keep and expand our 2nd amendment rights everyday. join a group like FOAC (Firearm Owners Against Crime) who is on the front line fighting each and every day to restore our rights.

hope this helps some

We always vote so you will acquire some votes for the good guys if we end up moving to PA.  That is a good call on the FOAC.  I will look to join some groups like that so that we can help the cause and to meet like minded people.

Keep the info coming on the communiities.  We are feeling a lot better about this transition as a result of ARF members.  Luckily the New York forum was nice enough to tell us to check out PA.  We were really concerned about what we would do because the opportunity could be great but it might have been a bad financial and quality of life decision.  You guys seem more like our kind of people so now the prospect is exciting as long as she can work out of one of the New Jersey offices.
