I received my PA license to carry. Remarkably easy, especially since the sheriff of Centre County is a democrat. Here in SC we don't have open carry. Thus, the only way to legally carry is with a Concealed Weapon Permit. Carrying concealed, printing is a bad thing. If someone detects that you are carrying there can be trouble from The Powers That Be. I read in another thread that open carry is legal in PA. I still like to be discrete about packing. I'm assuming that since open is OK, I don't have to be paranoid about how deeply I conceal it. I usually carry my SA XD in a shoulder rig with a loose Hawaiian shirt over it. |
| yes u can open carry, except in philly. pittsburgh has a local ordanace that says only police and act 235 ( armed security) people can open carry. all other people have to carry concelled. if you are open carrying, don't get in your vehicle with it loaded, you are now carring concelled. would i open carry, hell no. |

Open carry is 100% legal in PA with or without a license to carry, EXCEPT in Philly where you need the LTC to open carry. Doesn't matter what local law Pittsburgh has, there is a state law which states no cities, towns, boroughs, etc can pass their own gun laws. Only the State can pass such laws. Any local laws like the one in Pittsburgh are illegal. |
School's. Courthouse. and don't drink while carrying (duh) |
| what steve said is right about schools. lawful reasons like "self defense" is all you need. state parks you can carry in. court houses forget it. but in the pa law i think dont quote me on it but it says the judges chambers and district attorneys office, it doesnt say court house. lots of signs posted in district court offices saying no firearms to but was told you can have them in but not in the court room. but thats the good thing about concealed carry, no one knows its there. |
No such law in PA. The are specific places listed in the CCW law. No 'signage" laws. |
Gotcha... sorry, moving around too much lately! Virginia has a signage law. |
I think that's a law in PA. You have to be provided a place to check your gun in a court facility. |
