Hello PA group, My company might be looking to move into the Scranton area. What are good areas to look at for housing? Is the Scranton area a nice area? Are there long range ranges around...300m service rifle etc.? Thanks, roptics |

Here's some Info from the web..... www.scrantonpa.gov/development.html money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2006/snapshots/PL4269000.html Scranton really isn't very big. You can live OUTSIDE of Scranton and still get anywhere with a really short commutte. There are Gun Clubs ALL OVER Central PA. |

The best club in the Scranton area is about 10 miles north between Dalton and Factoryville. The Factoryville Sportsmans Club. It's been there since 1945. I've been there since '92, www.f-s-c.org We have a 200 yard rifle range and a little used 417 yard range up top. The club is mainly oriented around sporting clays and trap and skeet. BUT we do have 100yard CMP matches and there are those of us who have to have our monthly USPSA match, or else. The whole area is nice, Scranton isn't that bad, but I wouldn't live there. They have been a "distressed" city for at least 15 years now. Clarks Summit, So. Abington Township, Waverly, Dalton, and the lower valley are nice places to live. |
| There are a few good neighborhoods within the city, but if it were me, I would choose to live in one of the numerous small towns that surround it. There are a lot of private as well as public ranges in the area that have at least 200yd ranges as well as many other shooting disciplines. |
