I took a shippment of 7.62x39 ammo (1700rds) and 7-New Bulagarian 30rd mags to the Bethlehem UPS Hub to ship out, and about 3 hours later sent the tracking number to the guy who bought it from me. Then I checked the tracking # and it said " Electronic info received but package was not" . I called the next day and they said " its due for delivery on Fri the 9th, and when that happens the scan bar code on the package may have been damaged. So now on Fri, my customer still has no ammo, UPS is still saying that they never got the package to ship out and the big kicker is-my receipt says I paid for insurance but they are telling me that its not in the computer so I now have no insurance and no package is anywhere to be found.

Whats the lesson from this: Never ship ammo with UPS !

Has anyone else ever had this type of problem ?

Screw their computer. You have a receipt. Go down there and don't leave until you get satisfaction.

I talked with a UPS investigator and she said they will investigate and get back to me by mail in 1-18 business days !her
So I asked her why else would the package be missing and the other info thats on my receipt not be thier or in the computer ?

I got no response.

You can kind of put 2 & 2 together on what happen to 1700rds of AK ammo that everyone wants right now.

I guess we will se in 1 - 18 business days.

I used to work at UPS.

FWIW, even 10 years ago when I worked in the Harrisburg Center, this happened all the time. I cant speak for the Bethlehem hub, but I can say that at Harrisburg, there was an awful lot between the drop-off, and being loaded onto a truck.

And, good luck to anyone (especially "low-level" loader/unloader types, who would be in contact with your package) trying to steal something out of UPS. They'd really have their work cut out for them.

It still makes me wonder, I took 3 packages at the same time, 2-AK47's , and 1-1700rds ammo. & mags.  The guns got to their destinations , the ammo cant be found.

It just makes you wonder.

Quoted:

I told her that I thought that one of their employees stole the package, and she said I cant say that since I have no proof !

Can't argue with her on that one.

Did you try going back to where you dropped the package off .

Yeah, they told me I have to file an investigation and they will look into it, and then get back to me by mail in 1 to 18 business days.

Seriously- I doubt someone working there stole your ammo. I mean, maybe a delivery driver would have the chance to be alone with the packages, but there are far too many eyes and far too much security in the load/unload hubs for someone to do that. Hell, when I worked there, they wouldnt let you leave the building and come back in. Once you were out, you were out until your next shift started. The only entrance and exit (for anyone, even corporate types) was thru a guard shack with a metal detector and a hand wand.

Yeah, you could be right.  It just bugs the hell out of me. Any other time if I shipped small amounts of ammo the wrong way ( in a flat rate box w/no ORMD sticker) it got to the destination.

Then the one time I ship it the right way ( claimed w/ the ORMD sticker) the package is missing a few hours after I drop it off.

I hope they find it, but Im not going to hold my breath.
