I just picked up a Sig p239 and I would like to get the slide hard chromed. This gun will be carried pretty much 24/7.  Couple of questions here:

Will the hard chrome be much more resitant to rust?  I had a p220 that I never carried and I had rust on the slide after letting it sit in the box untouched for about 3 months. (give me a break, first pistol I ever owned)

I have seen pistols that I was told  were hard chromed and they seemed way to shiny for me, looked more nickel than anything.  Basically, is there different kinds of hard chroming?  I don't want my gun to be bling bling shiny.

I searched the topic and came up with nil.

Lastly, anyone know where a good place in SE PA area that will do it?  Thanks.

SIG seems to have an improvement in the nitrolon (or is it nitron) finish currently applied but the older blue steel guns would rust just looking at them.

I don't know where Quakertown is but I've had Evolution Gun Works hard chrome small parts and they do a great job.

Great.  They are only an hour away.  I will give them a call on Tues. and see what they can do.  Thanks!

I know that this place is out in Reno, PA., over near Pittburgh but they did a slide and all internals for a little over $100 bucks.  Not hard chrome but an "industrial" plating like brushed stainless.  Had my 245 slide, etc done.  Just wipes clean!  Metalife.

EGW Evolution Gun Works is awsome.  They make great custom guns and do fine gunsmithing.

Thanks for the info on EGW.  I gave them a call and they said it will take about 3 weeks from the time I drop it off to get it done.  I'll try and drop it off tomarrow morning sometime.  They said it will cost about 150.  I don't think that is a bad deal.
