I know this has been gone around again and again, but after a dinner conversation with Howard Block of JB Arms and some conversation with some local friends who are not online, I've decide to take the lead on putting a proposal together for the organization of a corporation with the purpose of buying land and creating a dedicated machine gun / destructive device / 50 BMG facility. My initial goal here is to get d=ome feedback from folks who are tired of talking and are willing to walk the walk. This means a willingness to participate in the actual planning and creation of a corporation, and to put up some samll amount of funds to get this started. I'm willing to put up the initial costs of talking to a lawyer to get the paperwork done for the corp once it can be decided what type of corporation will be formed and what the basic rules will be of the organization. Because I'm posting this message on different forums, I've created a yahoo groups discussion email list to allow communication between interested parties. The details of the mail list are as follows: Post message: [email protected] Subscribe: [email protected] Unsubscribe: [email protected] List owner: [email protected] The list is private, which means you have to know it exists in order to subscribe. I hope those of you that have been talking about this for the last year or so are ready to become active participants. |

Please folks, if you want to ask questions, join the mailing list. Just send a message that says "subscribe" to [email protected] I've posted this in a number of places with active MG shooters and don't want to have to keep answering the same questions over and over and have to remember which thread is where. All questions will be answered on the mail list. |

id be willing to GET INVOLVED. monies,etc... but like the last post , where are you going to find land away from complainers. but anything is possible if the right people are involved for the right reasons. not fellas trying to make a quick buck off unsuspecting loyal shooting enthusiasts. i would like to see a type of place like a mini knob creek, members only, safety consious range where i can shoot up stuff and not get ridiculed. email me at [email protected] if you are lookin for a dedicated responsible firearms enthusiast, willing to make something happen with the right people. |

Look guys, I'm getting asked the same questions on five different forums; that's why I ask that you subscribe to the mailing list. The idea is to find a current site that is "less than desireable" land, such as a closed strip mine, and buy the land and a surrounding buffer zone (say 200 acres). This makes it less likely that any neighbor in the future can complain. PA has a preemption law; if the range is there first, the future neighbors can go suck eggs. What happens with current ranges is that they get sued for environmental issues (not a factor with a closed strip mine) or the owners get bought out by developers (als0 not an issue with this type of land). Please join the mailing list for these discussions; if people can't do that simple thing we will never get organized enough to actually make this happen. |
Ditto what Mike said... We've all talked about this countless times, but due to geography (between us), schedules, families, etc... Nothing has materialized. Mike, Shaggy, Mario, Howard, Teddy, etc... We're all on the same page. I think you can pretty much count on all of us for support. There's a few guys up my way that we use to meet at the C3 friendly clubs before they banned MG's. I think I may still have thier contact info if needed. Also, for what it's worth... I've got access to whatever heavy equipment may be needed for earth-moving duties when the time comes. I rent all kinds of neat stuff... www.totalrentalonline.com/ I'm at the Pottstown location Mon-Fri 7am-5pm, Sat 8am-5pm. ART |

I've created a website for the group in order to post answers commonly asked questions and provide a central location for informational updates. Please note that the mailing list will remain the primary discussion venue. The website can be found at www.pamachineguns.com |

David, I do not have any questions, but rather an idea, that is right now, only in its infancy. I have just recently moved to the outskirts of Coatesville, PA in Chester County, and have been looking for a new place to shoot. Last week, I learned of a range out near Morgantown, PA., called Morgantown Rod and Gun Club. Although I do not currently own any Machine Guns at this time, I have several NFA items, and do not want to join a range that will give me funny looks every time I show up, nor do I want to join one that has a round limit or any other ridiculous rules. Last weekend I ventured out to the range to do a little reconnaissance. I found the range about 20 minutes off of the PA turnpike. It is down an unpaved road that dead ends into an active quarry. The entrance to the range was gated and locked, but had membership info on the gate. Based on the location, relative to the active quarry, I suspect the club utilizes an abandoned portion of quarry. This is purely speculation, as I was unable to gain access to the club. The club rules were not posted with the info, but the following info was gathered from their news letter. Membership is $20.00 per year. Access to the club is controlled by a padlock on the front gate. Once a person joins the club, they receive the combination. The lock is changed once a year. The news letter states that last year (2004), there were a total of 48 members in the club. It also goes on to state that the board of directors had considered selling the club in 1999. There is a club meeting on the last Tuesday of each month, and again, the news letter indicates that there are usually about 5 members who attend, but they are hoping to grow and have more members become involved. So, where am I going with all of this? I see an opportunity to possibly gain control or outright purchase this club. Now as I said, this idea is in its infancy, but here are my initial thoughts. This is a club with very small membership. It is clear by their access control, their small numbers, and low dues, that they do not have a large budget, and have already considered selling. I don’t think it would take much to outright purchase this club that is A.) Already established in the area and B.) Must have some type of improvements to the land to accommodate shooting. If the club resisted selling, I do not think it would be difficult to obtain a majority vote to seat board members that would be sympathetic to our goal of obtaining a permanent location for shooting NFA firearms. While this is not located in central PA, the club is very accessible from the Morgantown exit of the PA turnpike. Unfortunately, I just missed the March meeting. I plan to attend the April meeting to get a set of current rules and to get a feel for the club (i.e. shooting distances, number of shooting positions, and composition of the surrounding area). If you or anyone else thinks this is a viable option, please let me know and I will do my best to further investigate this possibility. Regards, Matthew (m4_a3) |

From where I’m sitting Coatesville sounds very good. I’ve passed through it several times on the way to King of Prussia or AC. The trip, while longer than any trip to any of the Clubs I’m a member of, is shorter than a Club I’ve been offered a membership to. And if I can join it so I can shoot Rock & Roll, it would beat any other options that I could think of. As I have a one way trip to Coatesville of over an hour (closer to 90 minutes actually), chances of me going to meetings would be very remote for me. I’d happily pay for membership, though. Deal me in if it’s possible. |

I just signed up too. But as any E-Mail I get has to go to where I work, getting information back to me can be interesting. I normally delete over 100 E-Mail's every week without reading them. Much of the E-Mail I get is sent department wide rather than to a specific individual. But in any case I have signed up. If worse comes to worse you can always IM me. |

Lemme know when this meeting is, at the Morgantown club. I'm right up the road from it in Reading. This is exactly how the MG owners were booted out of other clubs... Hostile takeover... ![]() Hell, we had 20+ guys showing up at the meetings in Shartlesville at Hamburg Rifle & Pistol Club. Same group was attending meetings at Millcreek Rod & Gun. Only problem was, we were outnumbered by the Elmer Fudd membership, and run-out of the clubs. |
| i am also dissapointed with hamburg for banning class 3 stuff. im still a member, but it pissed me off. thjey act like all is well still, BUT THEY had to lose alot of moey from non returning class 3 guys. im on the email list now, but really have no cash to support an idea. well not alot anyways. mike |
