I lived in Phoenix from 03-05. Have always missed places like Prescott Sedona and flagstaff.
Moved back to Texas for oilfield work and access to Road course race tracks.
The GF just got a nice offer for a job in Chandler. Just checking to see how that area is now a days.

As suburban as it gets, but not at all a bad place to be.

Chandler is a nice town, you might look at queen creek also if you work out that way

That's what I was looking for.  Would probably only rent for now. Then get further out as soon as possible

It's a hell-hole.  Red light and traffic cameras on almost every corner.  I think they run the entire city budget off of Redflex.

Not only will I actively boycott stores there, I try to avoid driving through the place at all cost.

Queen Creek, Chandler Heights (which is really Maricopa Co) or Gilbert are all better.

It's funny, I have lived in AZ for 20 years, never lived in Chandler, and every single ticket I have ever gotten in the last 20 years was from those asshats.

there aren't many cameras. helps if you dont run red lights. maybe leave a minute earlier so you dont need to run red lights.

Chandler is great. Low taxes low utilities and the police are there fast when you need them.  low crime as long as you dont live right off az avenue near downtown area.  only place better would possibly be gilbert unless you want to live further away from the city.

Drive around and through Chandler for work fairly regularly. For years. No tickets yet...and I'm quite an aggressive driver that enjoys speeding as much as anyone. To me, frankly, you're borderline an asshole driver that's impeding traffic if you aren't pushing 10 over. I never have problems driving around Chandler the same as I do anywhere else in the rest of the valley.

To refer to a city like Chandler as a hell-hole solely because you've gotten the short end of the stick with speeding tickets there is a tad extreme to say the least.

Anyways, OP, Chandler is a nice town in the valley. Surely one of the better cities to live in in the Phoenix area that has close enough proximity to most the relevant stuff the valley has to offer.

Seems you need to learn how to drive better.  Like not stomping on the gas and racing everyone.  Simply following the rule of speed limit +9 and your safe would seem to save you lots of money and time.

But hey, the only speeding ticket I've ever gotten in this state is a "Waste of Finite Resources".  Cop was rather cool about it, for me doing +20 over the limit.  I didn't see the sign dropping it down to 45.

To the OP.

Chandler is nice if you have Kids.  Easy access to most everything.  Once they get the 202 under south mountain.  Getting to the west side will be even easier.

Gilbert is the newer more popular spot.  But both are mostly the same.

I'm in Chandler off Arizona near downtown, it's the worst part of Chandler. With that said, as far as bad areas of cities go...it's nothing. Chandler has great food, great police and is an Arfcom city. All the cool kids live here.

Live near the 202 I-10 intersection and love it, been here 26 years.
Quiet neighborhood, HOA is only $25 a month, started at $25 a quarter.
10 minutes to the Chandler Mall, maybe 15-20 to Skyharbor and another 10 or so to downtown Phoenix.
If you want a large property you will have to move to the East Valley.
