| Anyone know a few good places to buy silver? |

Arrowhead coin on 67th Ave/101 next to the firehouse subs and the hardware store (ACE or True value) is my go to place. Real knowledgable, friendly folks. I just bought a 10 trillion Zimbabwe note from them for $7. (It's a novelty). They have a nice bit of junk silver (US pre-64 dimes, quarters and halfs) as well. Limited gold though, go to Coin Gallery on 43rd ave/dunlap for that.
Also BJs stamps and coins on Bell and 63rd ave. There's no sales tax on precious metal bullion in AZ. Arrowhead and BJs take debit cards for a small fee ~1.5%. Coin gallery is cash only, but they're open to 7 on Wednesday. They have an absolute killer selection and their website has current prices on it. http://www.coingallery.com/ If you buy Kennedy halfs, make sure its 1964. The 65-69 halfs only have 40% silver. I've seen these in some junk silver boxes where you pick out your own, kind of shitty. |

Certifiedmint in Phoenix, though all my dealings have been via phone w/ delivery.
I've worked with them for nearly 20 years, they're straight shooters, usually pretty good prices and while they'll sell you anything you want (they're not snooty about junk silver, so example), and will give credible advice that goes against whatever the hype du jour is when warranted. They have a pretty good BS-dispelling FAQ on their site as well. Note that they do have relatively high minumum order requirements, but there's a price break due to that. No connection other than being a satisfied customer and knowing they had my back on a couple transactions. |

Since when is there sales tax on bullion in AZ? I can't recall ever paying sales tax in any bullion shop. For on line I like APMEX. Quoted:

PROVIDENT METALS ON THE NET . BEST PRICES AND NO SALES TAX . No one in town will even come close ,and NO sales tax... Since when is there sales tax on bullion in AZ? | I don't mean to hijack, this is semi-related I suppose, but has anyone had any success "mining" silver coins from bank rolls? IE, get $500 worth of quarters from the bank, take them home, cross fingers and find some silver, deposit the remainder back into your account, and repeat? |

IE, get $500 worth of quarters from the bank, take them home, cross fingers and find some silver, deposit the remainder back into your account, and repeat? This worked many years ago, but not today. They simply aren't in circulation in any numbers anymore -- the rise in silver back in 1980 pretty much sucked all the coins out of the supply, and today there's virtually nothing as people have had 50 years to pick them out of change. I say maybe one silver dime every year or two at most, and I operate my daily spending almost entirely in cash. I think I've found a quarter once in the past 20 years. |

I found one not too long ago, they're just not out there anymore. Our pig gov stole it all and issued junk metal currency. |

Once I was at the bank and noticed a stack of 8 Kennedy's and one looked different. I exchanged paper for the stack and the one I spotted was a 40% silver one. Last year, I got a silver quarter for change at Target. While sorting loose change in the kitchen, I found a silver nickle. I started keeping an eye for these only for the past 6 years and that's all I found. I usually buy my 90% silver at Xavier coin in Mesa. Watch out though. I found regular quarters and dimes in their bin before and twice I caught the guys that work there count wrong (to their benefit). |

Those prices seem kinda high. 3.5ounces for $100? Am I reading that right? |
