Anybody here do any bow fishing? Are there seasons? Do you use a boat or walk the shores? Where do you go?
Basically I'm looking to get into bow fishing and would like any advice you have, or any general areas you go. Not looking for your sweet spot, just a general area.e

Or, should I be asking on a different site?

why as a matter of fact i DO  bow fish... there really is no season per say, but this is the later end of the carp run. it not a honey hole n not a lot of people go there, but the roosevelt diversion dam is always fun. no one i pluck with really wants the carp so we mostly feed the recoons n yotes.

read the AZGFD booklet an know it is legal to take 5 catfish by bow ONLY out of roosevelt, apache, canyon and saguaro lakes per day. i do not know if they enforce the 30lb minimum draw weight for bow fishing.

you can shaft all the tilapia you want last time read the rules. only issue that i for was at canyon lake trying to separate them from the small mouth bass at boulder creek. the tinged water makes it difficult to decide.

i also spend time in the az canal system. mostly carp but I've seen a few quite large tilapia as well.

just be careful bowfishin...  it is a blast and can become very addictive very quickly... have fun plucking away...
