https://youtu.be/I3Nn3zYXtLM I haven't been able to participate in any of the group cleanups because of scheduling but I always leave with more than I brought and I usually haul away a pile like this one. If anyone has the ear of BLM, do you think they would support the idea of a rollaway dumpster left out there, paid for by volunteers, to make it easier for folks to clean up? I don't have a lot of money, but I'd pitch in a little. |
| Nice idea of a rollaway dumpster left out there........problem is that the same people who leave their trash would use it as a target and it would be worthless within a few months. Ever seen the road signs/information signs out where people shoot at? They are full of bullet holes. |

The dumpster would be great idea in theory, But, I would definitely bet it would be shot up. I don't think the trashing of an un supervised area will ever stop. You could shut it down and people would still get out there and trash it. It's a shame. Just build one out of AR500 plate. It could be kind of a dual purpose target/trash dumpster. It'd be pretty heavy though. |

I've had a "secret" desert spot for about 3 years now. It was pristine when I found it, and I left no trace whenever I went out there. Just in the last 10 months, word must have gotten out about it, and it is rapidly getting trashed.
I only shoot steel, and pack out other people's trash every time I visit it. I feel your pain. I have been very, very strongly considering starting a 501c3 just for the purpose of public land "range" clean up. |

You could shut it down and people would still get out there and trash it. It's a shame. In the Tucson area, they actually did shut down the 3 most popular spots in Reddington. When I say shut down, I mean the Forest Service threw up up a 5ft fence at all the locations, made the area impassable, and patroled it heavily. It's clean. Now people must go much, much deeper into Reddington. |

The dumpster thing, in my understanding, has been tried in the past. Commercial users will fill it with trash hauled in from town the first fucking night. Pff, 3 people would use it, 50 would shoot it, 5 would try and steal it, and the rest would ignore it. |
