Well, I'll be at Ft. Huachuca in a few weeks and want to know what's going on around there? Anywhere to avoid, anywhere I need to go, etc? Going to AIT to reclass.

We've got a shoot planned for next month at the ass end of it, but AIT can be a real fun time party pooper, even for prior service folk

What MOS?

35F from 11B. Got out of the army and 2nd Ranger Bat, so the guard and my reclass are huge changes for me. No clue what I'm getting myself into really.

There are not many places to avoid.  But, I would not want to live in the older areas on the west side of Sierra Vista.  But, these areas are okay to drive and cycle through.  You should always lock your car doors and not leave anything in plain sight.  A lot of soldiers come to Sierra Vista, think it is a small town and leave their car doors unlock.  Many laptops and other gear have been stolen.

The Huachuca mountains have lots of good hiking and mountain biking trails.  A trip to the top of Carr Canyon is fun.  However, there may be snow on the road this time of year.  A trip up to Montezuma Pass is fun too.

The town of Tombstone not too far away.

The Sierra Vista Shooting Range is east of town.  There are a few competitions every month at the range.  The first Saturday of the month is a defensive pistol competition and the third Sunday is a 3-gun.  There are other comps as well.
