I just want to say thanks to all who attended, the well wishers, and the future attendees. Thanks to Cory and Glen, we have a fair amount of targets that were donated to the group and in time, we will continue to grow that stockpile. I was doing my best to stay motivated and thanks to the energy of the group, I was able to stay a lot longer than I had originally anticipated. I'm glad that those who attended were able to learn a lot and apply those important lesson but bare in mind that this is just a baseline and there is still much to learn. As those distances increase, more and more variables will come into play and it takes continued refinement to perfect those long, consistent shots, and this is where the meetings will help continue on where the training left off. Precision rifle is a perishable skill; with so many formulas and conversions, that if not continually practiced on, will fade from memory. These meets will ensure than your investments don't go to waste. We will stride to make these meets knowledgeable, fun, and dynamic! I want every member to have a voice and help give input to broaden what goes on at these events to make them more relevant and give others insight into areas they probably wouldn't tread into.

My next step is to setup a reloading 101 class. Reloading for your rifle can truly be beneficial, peaceful, and cost-effective. We were at the range from 07:00 to 1900 (7:00p.m.) and not everyone fired their 50 round supply. I loaded the ammo for some of the guys at the event on a single stage Lee Classic Cast. What I'm trying to say is that if you squeeze 2 hours out of a day, you can load yourself some of the best ammo you'll ever put downrange. I'll open up the instruction free to those interested in learning the trade.

So with all that said, please let me hear from you guys and once again thank you for your continued interest!

I had a great time at the one day precision rifle class.  It is amazing how much I learned in one day.  All of those formulas are still flying around in my head.

I was nice to meet all who attended.

11bravo01 and everyone else who put this together, great job and thank you.

Glen, great job training us!  I will be taking more classes with Independence Training.

Cory-P3DT, you make very good targets.  I cannot wait to use the one I bought from you.

LRK Mechanical, thanks for all of the good information and for letting me shoot your rifle.  That rifle rocked all day long!  I am sure I will be spending money  with your company soon!

P2tharizo, your home smoked pastrami was really good!  Thanks for bringing it.

I am glad you are going to teach a reloading 101 class.  I want to attend, but I do not know when I may be able to get up there again.

It appeared the ammo you provided to the others did really well.  Was your ammo the reason JeredMD shot so well!  Just kidding JeredMD, you smoked me on the range!

I'll go to where the class best suites you guys. I might hate Dillon's customer service, but damn if they don't make an outstanding product. The ammo I loaded for Jered was based off my personal data and my rifle has more wiggle room fit variance. I'm not ashamed to admit that there were rounds that would not chamber in his rifle. Likewise, the ammo, and factory ammo at that, that Kris used was blowing primers. Even though you can look at Federal Gold Medal as a nice suit, truth is that it'll never compare to a custom tailored suit. When you reload for your rifle, you can truly squeeze every bit of accuracy possible. The greatest thing of all, is that reloading can save you money. I do understand that not everyone is capable and I will continue to load for those who still need it. I hope that what Jered did at the range is proof-positive of my attention to detail and I'm willing to teach and load at the benefit of the continued growth of the group. Again, I want to thank you all for making the event a success and let's continue these events!

For me personally, it was pretty frustrating during the 1st half and part of the second half of the class.  I was having trouble getting on paper and I was shooting some terrible groups.  I was looking back at the dope I captured and, I was shooting 2-3" groups at 100m and a crazy 9" groups at 200m.  After making some adjustments to the scope I was only printing 1 or 2 shots.  I was definitely feeling pretty discouraged at that point.  As the rest of the class were advancing to 300m, I wasn't going anywhere.  After talking to Glen, I decided to switch to my backup rifle which was my scar 16.  He helped me setup a 100 yard target so i could zero the scar.  With help from Steve and Glen we got on target.  I dialed in my scope to 300m to catch up to the rest of the class and I was able to print a 1.5" group!  After that I was able to get on paper and nail steel no problem at 300m, 200m, and 100m.  I'd like to definitely thank everyone that helped me out during the class and I'm very glad i was able to finish the class with everyone else!  My total round count at the end was 74 rounds.

Overall, I had a great time at the class and learned a lot.  I can understand now why you need 3 days to teach the full class.  The one day seemed like a whirlwind of information, but I appreciate Glen and everyone who help for making the one day class available as an option.  I know there are several others in the group that would like to do the 3 day class but because of time, money, or other things, the 3 day class was just a bit too much and the 1 day was perfect.  Those of you who are on the fence about taking the class my advice is go for it.  Glen is a fantastic instructor and you will have fun!

Steve, definitely a big thanks to you, I recognize you spent a lot of 1:1 time with me (spotting, helping me zero, helping me troubleshoot) and I really appreciate all your help that day.  If you end up hosting a reloading class, I will try and be there.  I'd also be interested in trying out some of your loads that you use on your ACR on my SCAR.

When I was 14 and Jered was 15, he came out to a Rio Salado multgun match with me. My dad let him use his Mossberg 590. On one shotgun stage, he came in second place over all with a pump. He was only a few seconds behind Kelly Neal. Some folks just "got it." Jered is definitely one of them.

This was a great class. I had such an awesome time and the best part is, everything I learned here is going to not just help with shooting long range but with all my shooting. I am super excited to try and shoot out past 300 meters and see what I can do with that bolt gun!

If you are on the fence about this class, just do it. The crew at Independence Training are amazing when it comes to teaching. They are able to take some complicated techniques and simplify it for even the dumbest of people (Like myself ) to understand. My scores in competition shooting have improved dramastically from my first carbine courses and now my Couse deer death to miss ratio will be showing some positive death totals with the help of this course and hopefully the upcoming 3-day course.

Another HUGE thanks to 11Bravo. Your reloads were awesome! I can't thank you enough for helping me with figuring out my scope set up and everything. It was an awesome time. I really hope I can make it up for some of the shoots and possibly the reloading class. I am a beginner reloader and with my dad (20+yr reloading vet) out of AZ, it is really hard to learn small techniques over the phone. So I am very interested in learning what you have to offer. I would eventually like to reload for my Colt 1911, M1 Garand, and my hunting loads for my 308, 270, and 223.

I just wanna become a better shooter for both hunting, self-defense, and for recreational use. I love shooting

Kris - I know how frustrating and discouraging it must've been that initial first half. I hope that during our next meet, that we can retry the rifle and most importantly, bring out the ACR for your use. If I was more able-bodied, I would make more attempts at heading down to Phoenix but as you guys saw, I was in pain throughout the day and I hardly did a thing. I really want to teach you guys to load, as it truly is a therapeutic skill that can greatly help you guys reach a higher level of accuracy with your weapon systems.

Jered - What can I say... You do have natural talent and demonstrated it on the line. The great thing about these shoots is the amount of confidence that they give. I went ahead and loaded you some 165gr Hornady SST, for your next hunt. This is an extremely accurate bullet that has incredible terminal ballistics and is very capable of bringing down an Elk.

I don't want to leave anyone out and everyone demonstrated great talent. Norm was our top shot and even got a nasty bite from his scope! If I can get everyone who would interested in the reloading class to give me a best available date, I'll make arrangements to head down to Phoenix. Whether just to learn or need help with setup/assembly, I'll try and cover it all.
